1218 I listen to chillout music - stuff without lyrics. I love music so if it has lyrics I find myself getting lost in the music instead of in the book!

1218 I now have 5 trades in process and I signed up to that site less than 24 hours ago! I was a hoarder until now - I have given books away before and regretted it, however I haven't re-read a single thing since I joined GR. I figure if I'm never going to read them again, then why not swap them for something I will read, for the cost of postage? And the good thing is, that site is based in the UK, so no international postage to pay! I haven't listed any of my true favourites, those are staying put - even if I never read them again! Mostly I've just put up some non-fiction, a couple of thrillers and most of my chick-lit (except for Marian Keyes, no way I could give those away!)

1218 I read a book by Sam Bourne - The Righteous Men and enjoyed it. Very similar to Dan Brown.

1218 Fiona, I've just signed up to a UK based swap site - http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/ , I only signed up tonight and already I have two swaps in process!

1218 I also flip to see the chapter length, especially if I'm reading in bed - usually to see if it's short enough to be able to keep my eyes open to finish the chapter!

1218 I've entered A LOT and I've won two so far, but ended up with 3 as the first one I won was the second book and wouldn't have made sense without the first, so the author sent me the first book too. I got Beatrice Beecham's Fete of Fate Book One,Beatrice Beecham's Fete of Fate Book Two and Dead-End Road. I've just finished Dead-End Road and really enjoyed it.

I try to read the books as soon as possible after I get them... I guess in the hope that it'll help me win more!

1218 Wow. I couldn't imagine ever doing that! I'm all about the suspense... I hate spoilers and get really annoyed when I run into one accidentally!
What are you reading? (17076 new)
May 17, 2009 08:53AM

1218 I'm reading a GR Giveaway book at the moment -Dead-End Road by Richard Kunzmann . I haven't had much chance to sit and read it for a prolonged period of time so it's taking me forever, but I'm enjoying it. The first 150 pages were a little slower than I'm used to in a thriller, but the pace is picking up nicely now.

1218 I really don't think this classes as an important announcement.

1218 Christina, when you search for a book and nothing comes up, to the right of the page there is an option to add the book manually. You don't need to be a librarian to do that. Hope this helps :)
Your Latest Splurge (7522 new)

1218 Oooh Beng, That's my kind of splurge! I've read Wicked but none of the others yet and I LOVE Christopher Moore and James Patterson!
1218 Me too... I can't keep up with the millions of threads :) but I try!
1218 Probably for the best - if he's gonna attack the moderator then we don't really want him here do we?!
1218 Exactly. Kevin, if you don't like moderators that much then maybe this group isn't for you. Lori is, and always has been, a very active moderator.
1218 Kevin, Lori was clearly trying to do her job as a moderator. I'm offended by your last post, and it wasn't even directed at me.

1218 LOL Petra!

Signed Books (79 new)
May 05, 2009 09:47AM

1218 I have a signed copy of Beatrice Beecham's Fete of Fate Book One, which I won from a GR giveaway. Not a major author, but a signed book nonetheless.

Exactly. I hope we can end this here. I think that we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I'm now going to log off as it's getting late here (I'm in England) and I have to work tomorrow.

1218 Charity, that's cool, and you hit the nail on the head by saying it's not challenging for you.

Amen! (again)
