I just finished Blindness by Saramago and finished Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond right after. Blindness got 2 thumbs up and Fog got 2 thumbs down...I'm not sure why it took me so long to read Saramago but I'm so glad I did! I think his new book - Death w/ Interuptions sounds great!
I'm currently reading "A Round-Heeled Woman" by Jane Juska. It's okay so far...I'm 30 years younger than Jane was in this book so I'm not exactly the target demographic, but on the otherhand, human feelings/relationships happen at any age and that is always facinating.
Ah no broken bones here...not even one.
The person below me loves a good tap dancing movie - a la "Tap" with Gregory Hines. So great.
Ramona and Logan...I'd name my first daughter Ramona if I didn't think she'd get teased incessantly.
What two things do you do that someone else might consider "childish"?
I'm not exactly sure what happened to me this weekend...but I made 2 seperate trips to B&N and took away a haul:
Love is a Mix Tape - which I've already read but HAD to own it b/c i loved it so much.
Wicked
The Best Day of Someone Else's Life
Blindness
The Late Bloomer's Revolution
A Dirty Job
I was at the NASCAR race in Atlanta this past weekend and stumbled upon St. Dale by Sharyn McCrumb in the stacks a the library. I thought it was apropos...
Well I just finished Enchanted, Inc by Shanna Swendson - pretty funny. But now I want something a little scarier in honor of Halloween...I'm deciding between Lightening by Koontz, Frankenstein by Shelley or Nightshade by Saul - any opinions out there?
I just finished Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield...I loved it. I'm a big music fan and have been making mixed tapes/cd's for people for as long as I can remember. It was nice to read about someone's memories told through their love of music and collection of mixes.
There's also a line at the end of the book that I was drawn to..."When we die, we will turn into a song and we will hear each other and remember each other." - My dad died a few years ago and I learned my love of music from him...this line reminded me so much of him. It was perfect.
My 2 cents...for what it's worth...
Jessica - If this is the same To-Do List book you were referring to...here is the link to the blog:

It's an interesting blog (and book). As a listmaker myself, I'm always interested in what people's lists are about. I also really like Sasha Cagen - very original.
I'm currently reading "Love is a Mixed Tape" and so far it's great. I'm a big music fan and often think of the songs that would play on the soundtrack of my life. :)
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a splurge, b/c it felt more random to me...But I walked into B&N last night to relax and have a cup of tea. As I was innocently perusing the stacks...I came across Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
I just picked it up and bought it.
The randomness in this story is that I've never really had an impulse or need to read anything by Rand. It's like my brain had a masterplan all along...
Does this ever happen to y'all?
...and i've read only 16 of these. :( I am VERY excited to see "Holes" listed as one of the new classics though - such a great book!
I counted about 27 that I know I've read with about 5 more that I can't be sure if I actually read. Weird...
Over the course of 2 days, I found myself drawn to the powers that are the bookshelves at my local Goodwill - where I picked up:
Prep - Curtis Sittenfeld
The Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards
and then not more than 24 hours later "rewarded" myself on a task well done at Barnes & Noble with:
The most recent issue of The New Yorker
Drinking Coffee Elsewhere - ZZ Packer
Thursday Next: First Among Sequels - Jasper Fforde
Mr. Darcy's Diary - Amanda Grange
Admittedly, my reward was only supposed to be one book - but sometimes they just jump into your hands and won't jump out!
Stay tuned for the next installment of my random book splurging...Decatur, GA is having a HUGE book festival this weekend. Vendors anyone?
Girls and Their Horses (American Girl Library) by Camela Decaire, Michelle Watkins, and David Austin Clar
Tell Me Where It Hurts: A Day of Humor, Healing and Hope in My Life as an Animal Surgeon by Nick Trout
OMG Lori - I love the Thursday Next series by Fforde! So clever! Let me know how you like them - I'm hoping to finish Journey to the Center of the Earth next week on vacation. I read the first couple chapters last night and I'm already hooked!
I have recently discovered the fantasticness that is my local Goodwill's bookshelves...paperbacks for $1.50 and hardbacks for $2.50? It's a total win/win situation!
I scored:
*Journey to the Center of the Earth - Jules Verne
(this one's a nod to you Lori!)
*Sophie's World - Jostein Gaarder
*Lake Wobegone Days - Garrison Keilor
*Between, Georgia - Joshilyn Jackson
*A book about greener living that I can't remember the title or the author -
