Cat 2 - The Book of Other People by Zadie Smith - interesting book with a collection of "characters" created by other authors. It's neat -- some are written like a normal short story, others are comic strips, others are short blurbs with pictures.
Finished Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason and am focusing on "They Have Killed Papa Dead!" The Road to Ford's Theater, Abraham Lincoln's Murder, and the Rage for Vengeance.
Sure thing, Sera. A coworker raved about this book and how well it was written and how emotional it was.
I'm still working on Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason, but that should be done shortly. Have also started "They Have Killed Papa Dead!" The Road to Ford's Theater, Abraham Lincoln's Murder, and the Rage for Vengeance.
Sara, you are so right! Zaphod drove me nuts in the movie, but I'm really enjoying him in the book. It's funny the way characters translate from book to film.
Justin wrote: "In the series I thought he came off as annoying but by the end of the fifth book I really came to enjoy his character. Marvin devolops more of a personality as his suffering grows throughout the books."
Good to know. I definitely will be finishing the series. I'll ignore the annoyance I feel toward Marvin. I'll just have to keep giving him Alan Rickman's voice, so maybe I will remember the sarcasm.
Oh Christi, I'm going to agree with that one. Maybe it would have been easier to read when we were older?
Prizoner of Azkaban is my favorite. I think out of all of the books, I really felt the fear and emotions of that book compared to the rest. I was thoroughly disappointed with the movie.
I don't necessarily know about that it was uplifting until the end. I'm looking forward to continuing and reading 'Tis. I needed a McCourt break for a few weeks, though. Once I finish a couple of other books, I'll be moving on.
I liked Marvin in the movie, but in the book, he just comes across as annoying. I don't know whether I like having the movie as a reference in my mind. Part of me thinks that if I'd read the book first, some of the comedy or visuals might have been lost on me.
I just put The People of the Book on hold for myself at the library. Maybe I can get an early start!
I finished Breaking Dawn!! Yay!
I have moved onto a much faster read in Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich. I am also starting The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell as a side read.
I have done a little rearranging -- I moved Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer from my ebook task to my two YA books. I will now be reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams for my ebook.
I have completed task 25.8 and am up to 75 points, after the adjusting.
Now I'm working on Plum Spooky!
OHHH! I'm really excited about The People of the Book! Hope I can actually get around to reading it!
