1218 I have to give some props to Swaptree. You can trade books, DVD's, and video games interchangably. You enter your books by ISBN, so you know what edition you are getting but the quality/condition of the book is dependent on individual perception, despite having pretty a pretty decent & clear rating system.

I am on PBS & BookMooch as well but will confess to not having much luck on PBS and I've only traded on BM two or three times (as someone else said, I feel that the condition of these books is a lot more all over the map...I've also found some members I've tried to communicate with are downright rude!)

I've never heard of bookcrossing before now so I'll have to check it out!

1218 Andrew -- I don't have any of the books you are looking for, but was interested in The Trumper of The Swan and The World According to Garp. Are there any other authors or books you are searching for??

1218 Amy -- It's based on weight, but if you send them media mail, it's usually under $2 (at least within the US.) It says that it takes up to 2 weeks to arrive, but I sent something that way in early December (close to peak Christmas shipping time), and it got there in two days!!

1218 Jennifer -- We'll be jerks together than...I just have to figure out how to get pictures of my books on here! *L*

1218 Jennifer -- It's funny that you mentioned that because it was the first thing I thought of...and that I didn't want to seem like a jerk because I only wanted to ship within the US! *L*

1218 Lori -- I know I'm not over here as much as I used to be, but I think this is a great idea! I've been tinkering with the idea of joining some of those other book swapping sites but just haven't been able to sell myself completely on it...knowing I can swap with my TNBBC friends seals the deal :)

1218 Sara/Madeline -- I, too, was too late to join in the "official" contest...but I'm still going to do it on my own for fun. Then I'll have the gist of the thing down if they do it again in the fall:)

I will say though that it's too bad that there was a cut-off for joining...I only just heard about it from a friend today! But alas, I am not in charge, I just wander in every now and again and try not to let my head explode with the insane number of new posts every day!

Happy shelving everyone!

1218 Ok, so all the rain we had in July made this take waaaaay longer than it should have! *L*

Club Dead (3), Dead to the World (4), and Dead as a Doornail (5) of the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris.

1218 Kandice beat me to it:) Sorry to abbreviate, Wawa...I'm just so used to writing it that way!
1218 Elizabeth -- That's totally the way to do it! It's fun, not pressure, and I think a lot of us use it as motivation to get through some of those books we've had sitting on out TBR shelves for way too long! I always try to participate & I'm uber busy, so even if I only complete two tasks like I did in the Winter Challenge, it's two more books read:) Plus you never know what fabulous book you may discover that someone else has read for a challenge! Have fun...we'll be here to cheer you on no matter what:)
Mar 01, 2009 01:13AM

1218 I'm sure this question has already been asked, but I just cannot read through 700 posts to check (Cynthia, I apologize profusely upfront if this is a repeat question)...

For 5 pt task on planes, trains & autos:Can I start a book on the plane, then continue to read it while in the car from the airport or does it have to be the same "mode of transportation" as when it was started?? Does that make sense??
