Yes, Kellie...I've done that & I've also bought a book that I already have at home. It's frustrating...lol
short fat comedienne ( you can always lose weight or wear heels)
short fat comedienne or a star in a reality show?
I'd LOVE to own a bookstore. But then I'd be afraid reading would become more like work & I wouldn't enjoy it quite as much. Much as I love B&N & Borders, I still like the independent (local) bookstores much better. If anyone is in the area of Lansdale/Harleysville, PA there's a store called Harleysville Books. Check them out! And in Douglassville, PA there's a used book store called Gently Used Books that gives store credit if you bring in books to trade. Both are WONDERFUL & I spend much time in them.
I was VERY good this past weekend. I walked past a bookstore in the mall twice & only went inside once. In fact, the ONLY reason I went inside was because I noticed the third book in the Sign of Seven trilogy by Nora Roberts was just out. I bought that, of course! lol...
Angela...oh, how I wish I had the money (and time) to buy all my favorite books. Thanks for the mental visual. :D
I'm currently reading The Pagan Stone by Nora Roberts. It's the third book in the Sign of Seven Trilogy. I really enjoy this cast of characters...and have fallen in love with Fox. lol...
Also, before I picked this book up, I had started reading A Good Woman by Danielle Steel. I haven't read a book by her in so long & this one came to me by accident because I didn't send back the card for Doubleday saying I didn't want the book. It actually has caught my interest. I figured I'd read it & maybe send it back anyway. It's a historical fiction/romance type book. Starts off with the main character losing her father & brother to the sinking of the Titanic.

Vista sucks....we had a vista computer in the office at work & my co-worker reformated it & removed the vista program & now it runs wonderfully! Maybe try to do something like that with your dad's computer.
FYI: my grandfather is 86 & he goes kayaking every chance he gets. In fact, he has more of a social life than I do. I love him so much! :)
Good luck with the computer issues. Computers are fun when they work, and totally annoying when they don't.
Yes, I've caught myself a couple of times while in reading in public. But normally...I usually try to bookmark that spot in the book & go back & read it again when in private so I can laugh out loud. :)
The person below me wishes they could read more often but, like me, have been so busy with their life that when they sit downt to read, they fall asleep.
Oh yes...I can't wait. I love how it's starting to stay daylight for longer.
The person below me loves to read on the beach or by the pool.
I'm currently reading Veil of Roses by Laura Fitzgerald. It's about a girl from Iran who comes to America to find a husband. I just started it and it's a little slow going, but I'm keeping a positive mindset about it.
I'm annoyed with Eve in Pieces of My Sister's Life. She always seems to need to be the center of attention.
Haven't been reading much of anything lately. I'm too busy packing and getting ready to move. That puts a damper on any sort of reading I want to do. Too tired at night when I finally do sit down to read and I end up falling asleep.
Hey Lori - yea, I get cranky when I can't read and lately I haven't been able to read because I've been packing and getting my apartment ready so I can move.
The person below me....is Lori! (haha)
Seriously, the person below me blogs about the books she/he reads. (beyond just on this site)
1) Favorite place to read: anywhere, everywhere - but I prefer laying in a hammock on a cool summer's day.
2) Favorite genre: like lots of different ones - fiction, mystery/suspense, romantic suspense, YA, etc.
3) Current number of read books: whatever it says on my profile. But that's not all I've read. I've read others as a young adult that I can't remember names or authors.
4) Current number of unread books: I have about 2 boxes of books in my house that I haven't read yet.
5) Favorite author: I can't just pick one - Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb), Jodi Picoult, Tess Gerritsen, James Patterson, Stephenie Meyer.
6) Favorite Poet: don't really have a favorite. I am related to Robert Burns.
7) Favorite Book: I don't think I have an absolute favorite. There are so many good ones out there, it's hard to choose.
8) Least Favorite Book: The DaVinci Code
9) Book you couldnt finish: see above.
10)To loan or not to loan: I loan to people I know will give them back. Or I'll flat out give a book away if I don't like it.
11)Member of a bookclub: not officially. I'll read bookclub choices here and there, but I don't normally discuss them with anyone.
12)New or used: both, either
13)Hardcover or Paperback: I prefer Paperbook. they are easier to handle - hold when reading; cheaper; you can fit more on a shelf.
14)Are you a writer: not now, but I have in the past.
15)Book everyone MUST read in this lifetime: The Kindness of Strangers by Katrina Kittle
Hey everyone...
I absolutely loved Mr. Emerson's Wife by Amy Belding Brown. Does anyone know if there are other books similar to this? Can anyone recommend any books along the same lines.
~Historical romance
~Basis in truth
thanks!
If I know a book is coming out in movie form, I'll read the book first. But once I see a movie, it's really hard for me to read the book after. Tried to do that with Pet Semetary, Interview With A Vampire and Devil Wears Prada and just couldn't read any of them.
The person below me loves playing these online games. :)
I've been to a book signing but it wasn't one of my favorite authors. It was actually a book for my mom. I had Pat Croce's book signed for her for Christmas one year. (she was in love with him. haha)
The person below me prefers paperback books over hard cover books. Or vice versa.
