Good luck for those tasks!
Finished 25.3 The Mod Squad Task with
A Wrinkle in Time from Lori's shelves and
Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason from Cynthia's shelves.
New Total: 460 Points
That's it for me in this challenge. I'm very happy that I exceeded my goal of reading more books than I did in the last challenge. Yea Me!
Congrats to everyone who finished this one!!!
I finished 30.9 Judge a Book by it's Cover with
People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
I bought this book quite a while ago. When I was in a book store the cover of it just drew me to the book - this rarely happens to me. When I discovered it was a book about a book I knew I had to read it. I highly recommend it.
New Total: 435 Points
I knocked off two more tasks this week
25.9 Reading through the Ages
Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne (1800's), Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie (1900's), and City of Night by Dean Koontz (2000's)
30.10 Mythopoeic Award Winner or Nominee
Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card
New Total: 405 Points
I finished 25.5 Beth MN's task of reading two books over 555 pages each with The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer (626 pages) and Strangers by Dean Koontz (704 pages). Okay, it's an odd pairing but I loved both books.
Parts of the Canterbury Tales was laugh out loud funny - the man was obsessed with farting. I read Burton Raffel's latest translation and I highly recommend it. For some reason, the link to the hardcover edition isn't available so I linked to Raffel's translation in paperback that's being released in the fall.
New Total: 350 Points
Two more finished for me
25.6 Capital City task The Camel Club by David Baldacci. This is set in Washington D.C.
25.8Two Goodreads Authors
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and The Crown Conspiracy by Michael J Sullivan. Four stars for both.
New Total: 325 Points

Love this idea! ;)"
And then drink that beverage while reading the book :-)

Go to the first page of this thread and it's listed at the end of the 2nd message.
I just finished the 50 Point task. For it I read Book Lust Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason by Nancy Pearl and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson.
I enjoyed Book Lust and added a few more books to my TBR pile. When she mentioned Shirley Jackson in her book, I knew that was what I needed to read. Jackson is one of my favorite authors and it's been so long since I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle that I couldn't remember anything about it. It was like being reacquanted with an old friend. Loved it!
New Total: 275 Points
I completed 15.3 Read a book outside task with The Silent Man by Alex Berenson. It was okay. Luckily the weather has been absolutely wonderful for reading outside lately. I don't want to go indoors!
New Total: 225 Points
I finished 10.1 Wolfgang Puck b'day
Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris.
I hadn't planned on reading more of this series, but since it fit so nicely for this task I decided to give it a try. I liked it more than I did the first book and now I may have to read more in the series.
New Total: 210 Points
I finished a task a few days ago and just realized I haven't posted it.
25.10 Secret Society
The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
My Review:
This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed Bray's depiction of Victorian Society. The secret society in this book is called The Order and they are, or were, a group of women who controlled the Realms. Gemma Doyle is the young protagonist who discovers that due to her mother's death she is basically the new high priestess for the Order and her mission is to restore the power of the Realms back to the Order. I did enjoy this series, but I've never wanted to smack the crap out of characters like I did with the ones in this series.
New Total: 200 Points
Another good author for Roseann's task is Michael Dirda. He writes for the Washington Post Book World and has compiled most of his essays into books. I love his critiques!
I've read the following by Dirda
An Open Book Chapters from a Reader's Life
Classics for Pleasure
Bound to Please
Readings Essays & Literary Entertainments
Great task Roseann!
Whew. I was able to finish three tasks in the last two days.
5.1 Mayberry task
The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie
(it's set in the village of Lymstock)
10.8 Our House on... task
36 Yalta Boulevard by Olen Steinhauser
(I live on a boulevard) I've been listening to this on audiobook for the past 4 weeks. It's a cold war novel but from behind the iron curtain. I wasn't that impressed.
30.5 Three YA novels
The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis
Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyle
New Total: 175 points
I finished The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck for 25.4 birthstone task. I really enjoyed the novel and I can't believe I waited so long to read it. Thank you Amy MA!
Total Points: 130
I finished two more tasks
10.4 Novel that takes place in Africa
The Return of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs
30.2 In Honor of Lucille Ball
Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis (a main character named Lucy)
The Tragedy of King Richard the Third by William Shakespeare (a main character named Richard)
New Total: 105 Points
Finished two tasks this week:
15.9 Two books by different authors who share a name
Real Murders by Charlaine Harris
Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris
25.2 Dystopian novel
Uglies by Scott Westerfield
New Total: 65 Points
I liked Uglies a lot more than I thought I would. The upcoming 10th graders where I teach are reading it for their summer assignment. Too bad I teach 9th grade - so much to do with this novel.
I liked Real Murders (an Aurora Teagarden mystery) and look forward to reading the rest of the series at some point. I didn't care much for the Sookie Stackhouse book I read, but I may be vampired out because that's the subject all my students want to read.
