I really enjoyed the movie, and I've been..."
I think the book is pretty good. Even if people say its not historically accurate, at least it is intresting. It is accurate for the most part. I'm planning on watching the movie soon, so I'll see how they compare.
I'm just about to finish The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. I took a break from it for a while, but now I picked it back up again.
Wow. I guess I was in a no-reading phase. But I'm back on track. :-)
16. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
This was a good chick lit book, with a vampire twist. I read a lot of it while I was sitting by the pool in Mexico. It was a good, light read that I really enjoyed. Sookie definitely got my attention, and I went out and bought the next book when I got home. So I am looking forward to reading more of the series.
17. A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines
This book was very well written, and it had a very good message. I liked how Gaines made it easy for you to connect with just about all of the characters at some point. Especially with Grant and how he is torn up over what he can do for Jefferson. The message is really good, and I think its all about how you can leave a lasting impact no matter what, sort of like what Jefferson did in the town. They all knew he was innocent, but in the end he still made everyone proud.
18. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
This book proves that it is important to pay attention to those around you. Its about a girl named Hannah, and a boy named Clay who had a crush on her. One day she commits suicide, and this devastates Clay. But a couple days after, he recieves a box of tapes, recorded by Hannah. There are 13, and they are all about a person who caused Hannah to commit suicide. So Clay wonders why he is on the tapes. (To find out, read the book). But I read the book and thought the overall message was good, but it was delivered poorly. It was written well, but not spectacular.
19. After the First Death by Robert Cormier
For any of you who have read Cormier before, you'll know what I mean when I say this book is weird. Its about a kid named Ben and how his father's life impacts his own. To really get the full affect of the book, you need to read it twice. And then read it again. I totally would not have gotten the full story of the book unless my teacher had explained it to our class. But because it was so intrestingly written, it made a lasting impact on me.
20. Deadline by Chris Crutcher
I really liked this book. I thought the message that was given was great. The book was about Ben Wolf, who was diagnosed with an agressive disease and given around a year to live. So he decides not to tell anyone because he wants to be normal. But he realizes it isn't good to keep secrets when he learns that everyone he is close to has their own secrets too. The book was all about how important it is to tell the truth, no matter how bad it may seem if you don't. I also liked the way this book was written. It used slang and such to appeal to a different audience.

14. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
I liked this book. I accidentally read it second, and not first, but I still liked it. The only thing I didn't like is how it was like a repeat of the Da Vinci Code but with different characters and a different problem. That bothered me. And I am sure it would have been the other way around if I had read Angels and Demons first. But other than that, it was good.
15. The Time Traveler's Wife
I loved this book. It had an awesome, original plot, and was well written. The developments of relationships throughout the book was intresting as well. I just really liked this book... Not much else to say.
I finally finished this book on vacation in Mexico. It was good but I was kind ofd expecting a different ending, but I'm not sure what it should have been. I did enjoy seeing the different stages of relationships between Henry and Clare, though. Overall, I gave this book 5 stars.
Its really good so far. I am around page 160. I am going to take it with me on vacation. It will be a good read on the beach. :-)
I can't wait to finish this. I bought it before I realized it was a group read, so I was excited to see that it won! This will be my first group read book!
13. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
I really liked this book. I have been trying to finish since it came out in 2005, but I just could not get into it. But the movie coming out was great motivation to finally read the book. In the sixth entry in the Harry Potter series, Harry is fighting against Voldemort. Again. It was just a good book.
I did task 10.7 and I read the sixth book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I wanted to finish it before I saw the movie.
Total Points: 110
