Angela,
Thanks. I suspected that's what would happen. I did go ahead and send off a book - at least she'll get one. Oh well, ...
Travel without a book? No way! And of course, a trip to at least one bookstore is a must on every vacation.
I have a question and didn't know where to post it. I was sent a "chain" letter where you send a book to someone the letter has passed and then six letters to friends with your mailing label. I don't usually do these, but thought this might be intereting. I need three more people to send it to - if anyone is interested, let me know.
I'm not sure how good this would work even if everyone who receives it participates -- since my guess is people would be more willing to send books they didn't like. Anyway, if you're interested, let me know.

Jessica,
I seem to be doing the same thing - I've started several books - but when they don't catch right away, I'm on to something else.
For those of you who enjoyed A Dirty Job, there was TV series called "Dead Like Me" that is similar in concept. It's available on DVD and was fun. It's about a young woman who has to release souls from their bodies.
I agree with Vonney. I listened to The Thirteenth Tale too, and I enjoyed that version.
I'd also recommend The Guernsey Literary....
I'm reading The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane and am enjoying it. If the members of your group are interested in the Salem Witch Hunts, they'd probably enjoy this.
I think all politicians and world leaders should read Three Cups of Tea One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time. He presents an alternative to war and conflict.
I just strated The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. I've had a little trouble getting through the books I've started lately - but this one is holding my interest. (It was on my TBR and my daughter bought it for me - what a doll!)
I donate some of my books to the local Friends of the Library. I have a hard time giving away my books though. In fact, I still have many of my children's books. They are now being enjoyed by the grandkids.
I'm such a book hoarder that for my grandson's school's request for gently used books I went to the local thrift store to pick some up (rather than part with ours). My grandson saw those and didn't want me to give those either :) I'm rubbing off on him, woo hoo!

Everyman,
Thanks for the website info.

What books are coming out soon/have just come out that you are totally psyched about? Or what book are you waiting for from ..."
Bree, I just received a notice from Barnes & Noble and I'm with you. I can't wait to read The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane!
My favorites authors - (in no special order):
1. Philip Gulley. He can be found in the religion section although he doesn't preach in his books. He's a Quaker minister who writes about a Quaker minister and his congregation(?). Gulley cracks me up - there are some real characters in his books!
2. Brendan O'Carroll - he wrote The Mammy series - it's a riot.
3. Elinor Lipman - I wish she would write more. I've enjoyed everything she's written. The first book of hers that I read was The Inn at Lake Devine. I don't usually re-read books but that's one that I will re-read.
4. Marian Keyes.
5. Jane Austen.
And women authors are the majority on my list :)

I'm sorry I was unclear. I was responding to the summer challenge 10 pointer, #9 - books about baseball.
Beth wrote: "I know I have very little chance at completing this challenge--it's already HUGE and not all the tasks are even up yet (!) so I know I can afford to be picky and skip tasks that don't appeal to me...."
In my TBR pile I have
If I Never Get Back A Novel. I haven't read it, but this fit the task?
