The Given Day by Dennis Lehane is historical Fiction...it deals with the police strike in Boston and also has a love story and family issues in it.
Oh my goodness...I love that book...my 26-year-old son loved it too...he even took me to Barcelona to find all the places in the book.Your boyfriend will LOVE the book....get it for him.
My book club meets once a month...we take turns choosing the book..we have fun.I send out reminders about the book club meeting a week in advance and I send out a note telling the members what book is coming up for the upcoming months and whose turn it is to choose.
We make the next book club date during the current month's meeting.
It is so nice to get together and chat about the book and other things as well.
We only allow paperback editions...some buy the book, but most of us, including me, get them out of the library.
Is there a local library in your town that you can join?
You could also have each member read a book of their choice and then discuss it and then swap that book or the person can take that book out at the local library.
Just be careful of spoilers if you are going to swap for the next month.
Why would anyone complain about someone reading too much....that is what we try to promote. That seems odd to say something about a wonderful thing such a reading...I wasn't complaining about someone reading so much....I was amazed about how anyone would have time to read so many books.
I think it is wonderful to hear that someone can read and enjoy so many books in such a short time.
14.Learning new things about history and then not wanting any book to end no matter whether is historical or just a great story.
