So, after reading Academy 7
and Across the Universe
I've realized I really, really like YA sci fi.
Unfortunately, it seems to be really hard to find. All the lists I find are swamped by dystopian novels. I want real sci fi: spaceships, aliens, robots all that stuff.
I've read Ender's Game
(love) and have The Silver Metal Lover
on my to-read.
Any other suggestions?
This is the first year I've ever paid attention to new releases on a regular basis. I used to just look out for new books by authors I love, but this year I've been trying to read as many new books as possible, so have been scouring every source I can find to figure out 2011 releases (it's a lot harder than it looks! There's no decent comprehensive database separating the wheat from the chaff that I can find).
Anyway, I can't wait for:
(because I loved Alice Have I Been
and think Benjamin is an excellent historical fiction writer)
(because The Mockingbirds
was one of my favorit YAs this year, and this is the sequel)
(because Mary Doria Russell has yet to write a book I don't find absolutely brilliant)
(because the buzz has been good)
(because Murakami is one of my favorite writers)
(because even though I didn't like her last book, I've got lingering love from Year of Wonders
(because even though the premise is so cheesy, Stiefvater is a wonderful writer and I WANT to know how this series ENDS)
Thanks! This challenge is a great motivator to read more global lit, which I wanted to do this year anyway!
