Woohoo Diane!!I've just finished Amy's task by reading Iris and Ruby by Rosie Thomas, for 25 points. And I think that will be it for the summer challenge for me!
Total points: 275

Ooh, yay Kim! How did you like your choices?
I just finished reading a book outside - The Spare Room by Helen Garner. It was ... ok, didn't live up to my expectations!Total points: 245
Finished reading a book set in my capital city (London) for 25 points - Sleepyhead by Mark Billingham. Total points: 230
Just finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery (set in France, by a French author) for 10 points. I didn't hate it, but it didn't live up to expectations.Total points: 205
Finished a Dystopian novel for 25 points - I read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, and I'm afraid to say I found it thoroughly depressing.Total points: 195

Me me me! I can't wait for tomorrow to see what Cynthia has in store for us!
Finished Cait's task - I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks from Cynthia's list (not my cup of tea at all I'm afraid!) and Storm Front by Jim Butcher from Lori's list ... better :)Total points: 170
Completed Beth's task to read two books of 555+ pages each.I read The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland (fascinating read!) (563 pages) and The Novice by Trudi Canavan (am really enjoying this series!) (576 pages)
Total points: 145
I've just finished half of the 555+ pages task, but had to post about the book!I read The Owl Killersby Karen Maitland. An absolutely fascinating and intriguing story of the Dark Ages in England. I learnt so much from this book about a time period I knew very little about. I think this is my 'book of the year' so far and it will take some beating! I highly recommend it!
I've just finished 15.8 ...My first friend on Goodreads was Fiona (Titch) and I read Without Consent by Kathryn Fox (5 stars from Fiona) - I gave this 4 stars - it was really very good, but I'm very mean with my 5 stars! And then I read The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller (1 star from Fiona) - I gave this 2 stars. It was a bit of a snore, but quite a touching love story.
Total points: 120
A little swap-around for me Cynthia:I've finished No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay for the 5 point mystery task. I'm moving Agatha Raisin and the Vicious Vet from that spot to the 'through the ages' task (published in 1900s) (although I haven't finished that task yet!)
Total points: 105 still ...
I started off this challenge so well and then I just don't know what happened! I haven't read a book for such a long time, and I just can't seem to get into anything I pick up! I'm amazed some people have finished the challenge already - that's good going!Well done to those people! I'm going to try and get back on track for August and see what I can read!
I've finished December by Elizabeth H Winthrop for the Christmas in July task, 5 points.Sadly I didn't really enjoy it. I found it quite sad, but the story never really went anywhere, and then it ended.
Total points: 100 woohoo!
I've finished task 15.2, the casting task. I read The House at Midnight by Lucie Whitehouse. I really enjoyed this book, and think it would make a very atmospheric and creepy movie ... although it's not really a scary book as such ... just quite dark and menacing. The Cast (this was fun!)
Joanna - Kate Winslet
Lucas - Jude Law
Danny - Rufus Sewell (who else but him in the role of the baddie!)
Martha - Drew Barrymore
Michael - Paul Bettany
Rachel - Keira Knightley
Greg - James McAvoy
Total points: 95
I'm up to 80 points! I read Agatha Raising and the Vicious Vet by MC Beaton for the 5 point 'mystery/crime' task. A fun, light read! I may change it to another task later on though, as it does fit a number of tasks ....Not sure what I'm going to read next, but need something a bit more absorbing I think!

Yes I was excited to be able to read the same author for both years! There were similarities in the style of writing, but one was more a collection of short stories (although connected through a couple of dinner parties), with Miss Marple at the centre, and the other was a Hercule Poirot mystery, so obviously a different type of character there! I preferred Miss Marple to be honest!
I just finished the second half of the 30 point task - read a book published in the year your dad was born, and one published in the year you were born.I read The Thirteen Problems (1928) and Elephants Can Remember (1972) both by Agatha Christie. I really enjoyed the first book, but the second was awful! I found the main character, Ariadne Oliver, extremely rude and bad-mannered and found myself getting really annoyed with her! The mystery was interesting, however.
