1218 Hello, Troy (and everyone else here), My sister lives in Michigan (Big Rapids) but I don't care for the cold winters there. Here in New Mexico it gets cold a few days but a day or two later it could be back into the 50s and 60s again. Any way, glad to have you with us.
1218 All I know about the throwing up is that when the marijuana stopped, so did the throwing up. I know that it is used for medical purposes in some cases, but I am not familiar with just what medical purposes it is used for.
1218 Jackie, you are lucky, then. It's not a pretty thing to see or even hear. Not to mention that it would definitely be very detremental to the person's health over time.
1218 If you can't think of a single person who has jeopardized his life using marijuana, then you must not have seen someone who threw up every single morning, hacking until his insides seemed to be coming out, and who looked like he was off in another world. And that's the "harmless" joint you see no harm in?

1218 Marijuana is not the only drug being used and abused. There are countless drugs out there. And, like alcohol, it isn't "just one" and that's all. Drugs are adictive (this is proven countless ways) and "just one" does not exist.
1218 I don't entirely disagree with your thoughts. I know that parental guidance, or lack thereof, is a big issue, too. And I don't mean to oversimplify the problem. But still I think that what a young person, in his/her impressionable years, sees going on around him is going to affect what he perceives to be acceptable. And, in effect, that does affect how he tries to fit in with society. Every teenager wants to fit in to some degree and if he has had the right kind of guidance from his parents, he will find a way to do that without resorting to drug use to change himself.

1218 And there are many, many, many others who kill themselves with this "fun on Sathrday nights" you are talking about. Why anyone would rather jeopardize their life just to be something they are not is beyond me. If I had to risk my life and happiness just to be what some "friends": want me to be instead of being myself and being satisfied with myself, then I must not be a very personable person to begin with.
1218 Hi, all you members of this great network:

I just HAVE to Share some GOOD NEWS. . I published my first novel at age 69 and my second novel has recently been published at 75. I'd like to share "For Love of Teddy" with you as it examines a teenager's fight against drug dealers. It's really a must-read for teenagers and parents alike. (Not kidding.) I wrote it to inspire youug people to take a stand against drugs. If you'd like to read more about it and order it maybe, please go to my website www.freewebs.com/thedesertwriter and enjoy. You can also read about cassettes and CDs of six of my top songs, and I plan to offer audio books of my novels also. Hope to hear from you (even if you don't buy my book or tapes.)

Jeane: Thanks for correcting me. Just thought it might be the one.

1218 Jeane, wasn't that a book written by John Griwham or James Patterson? I read it and I can picture the cover in my mind, but can't remember for sure who wrote it.

1218 Hey, Melissa. I just wondered why you don't like audio books? I love them when travelling - it helps pass the time so much and I can "read" while driving alone. If I sit down to read, I usually fall asleep.

1218 Gernerally speaking, I do like film adaptations. Offhand I can't name any specific ones - you know what they say about getting older and memory. LOL. But I did like all of the YV movies made from Danielle Steel's books.
1218 T^hank you for your comment. I didn't want to risk spamming, so I'm posting to other threads and meeting new people.
1218 Rowena Cherry is the one who informed me about this site and about spammers. So I am looking around and reading the posts, etc., and hope to tell you about my newly published novel one of these days.

1218 I should have read this discussion before I posted a comment on another subject a few minutes ago. I saw the box mentioned but I did not UNcheck it. I will remember to do so in the future. (I had never heard about Spoilers before.)

1218 Right now I am reading Danielle Steel's "Rogue". So far (I'm not very far into it yet) I think I am going to like it. It's starting off with less ho-hum back-story narrative than some of her recent books. I am collecting all of her novels because when I first began reading with a passion, her "Changes" was the first I read.
