That's what I thought it was referring to as well.
I thought after her liking her fake breasts and keeping them even after she got rid of her costume at hte end of TGWTDT it made sense that they became a permanant addition.
The crawling out of the grave after being shot in the head didn't bother me. I don't know physiologically what a small caliber bullet lodged in that area of the brain would impair regarding physical function but there are stories of people living after all finds of brain trauma and Salander had already proved she is a scrappy fighter so, worked for me.
I just finished this a liked it a lot. I had a hard time keeping track of all the characters at times but loved getting all that background and understanding. I'm so sad I have to wait until 8 June 2010 for the third enstallment!

Are you comparing Twilight to Wuthering Heights? We will explore that comparison in January. That..."
I don't think they are being compared. Wuthering Heights was recently rereleased with a cover that mimics the Twilight covers and a seal on it advertising it as "Edward and Bella's favorite book". They are being shelved within viewing distance of each other thus drawing attention to WH because of all the attention already given to Twilight.
I don't know anything about this book other than it's a classic so have no great desire to read it but...
they republished it wit ha new cover-it resembles a twilight cover and they have attached a sticker to it that says "Edward and Bella's favorite book". I was amused/horrified at using Twilight imagery and marketing to sell a classic. (And those kids who've never heard of it will really be in for a surprise if they pick it up based on the cover!)
I just finished this about 3 weeks ago and it was the first time I'd read it. I really enjoyed the closeness of the family and how each of them developed and matured while maintaining the uniqueness of their personalities and interests. this book has been criticized (now, probably not when it was written) as too preachy but I found the writing style refreshing.
LaTricia, I could be wrong, I know little of literature and the period this was written, but I think people thought more about who they married and married not just based on feeling (this was marriage for the long haul not "starter marriages", to borrow a phrase I've read in pop culture mags). The position was that love was work and the feeling is good but not what sustains the marriage long term. Jo and Laurie had a genuine affection for each other but what they wanted out of life would have pulled them in opposite directions and one of them would have had to give in what their dreams were.

I must say I am often scared off by some of these books and authors! perhaps I should get over it and give some a try...

I'd like to join in too. This is since 1 Aug. Thanks! I like this challenge-it's clearing of TBR instead of adding to it!
I write in, dog-ear and lay books open and face-down. not usually novels though only non-fiction when I feel like there is something there I want to be able to find quickly or remember.
Although, I've also been known to write my arguements with the author in the margins...
"we need to stop for coffee and that shop is on the way"
"i get a discount"
"it's the next one in a series"
meeting my sisters to catch up
love this thread. sounds like most of us fall to the same line of reasoning.
I can send you Me Talk Pretty One Day. It's in decent condition- some folded corners-it's been read a few times. I'm interested in The Red Queen. Let me know if you are interested.
I know you said preferance for fiction but...check out a travel book by Bill Bryson. He is laugh out loud funny and it may be fun to read his humorous accounts of where you may be visiting.

The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel is a non-Christian reporter looking at the facts and seeing what conclusions he would come to. It is very historical and fact base and an easy read because of his writing style not because it has been dumbed down.
Travelling Mercies by Anne Lamott is her thoughts on faith. She is funny and very real in her approach almost like having a conversation with her. She has other ones that follow it up but I have not read them yet. (Plan B)
I don't give myself deadlines per se becasue that makes me immediately disinterested in the book I've picked up but I keep a list of what I've read for the year and would like to see it average a book a week overall. I read multiple books at a time so sometimes it will be a couple weeks then I'll finish a few in a couple days.
I've won 2 books in the last 2 months. They seem to look at what you like to read and then whether you review what you've gotten. I won Lucky Girl and Bozo Sapiens.
I was hoping to win some of the fiction stuff-the ones I signed up for look interesting. I sign up only for the ones that look like something I would read but I also sign up for a lot-I fugure it increases the odds.

I'm posting just to be difficult. I read the first one because of all the hyoe on here and hated it! Haven't picked another one up. Does anyone else on here dislike the series?
JG-that's how I felt. Every time it got back to Hanna I rolled my eyes and continues on more interested in how various specimens wound up in the pages of the book. I liked the story of how it travelled and all the peoples lives it touched.
I didn't like Hanna at all. I found her very one-dimensional. Perhaps to add depth would have made the book a bit of a tome but....Her relationship with her mother, lack of father, finding out about her father, etc. seemed like there should have been more going in in those areas; all the conversations surrounding those issues were cut short.
From others reviews, it seems like Brooks's other books are better written. I don't know if I would pick up another one just based on this book.
