Lolz, when Dan's comment showed up in my feed I was momentarily confused 'cause my name is Dara too.
Dismissing the value of the entire fiction genre just seems ignorant to me. Hell, some fiction has been able to make social commentary that wouldn't have been published if written as literal, non-fiction.

Very good point.
Even if you hate those people*, at least they're contributing to the book industry. Although if they haven't read any of them, they're probably just buying classics or whatever is currently popular instead of books by some lesser known writers who could use the financial support more.
*And yes, I pretty much hate those people. Or at least the idea of those people. I can't say I know any--or at least I've never been to any of their homes. Most of the people I know don't read and don't bother with the pretense of being well-read either because it just isn't even socially valued in this backwards town.
I just started Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I haven't checked this group in months (been in a bit of a reading slump) so I wasn't aware before that it is one of the current group reads--nifty coincidence. I had to read the original first, but now I'm looking forward to the addition of zombies.
Question about # 8 on the 5 point tasks: What about the word Holiday itself? I was considering Politically Correct Holiday Stories For an Enlightened Yuletide Season.

Q: For the new author, I was looking at an author's first novel, but the author has published short stories before--does this count? If not, I'm sure I can just keep looking. Thanks in advance.
I tried that the other day. It seems to count not having a book on your list that your friend does against your compatibility. So in other words, it's stupid. The compare books feature makes more sense. At least it's based on books you're both aware of instead of a set list of popular books in certain genres.

That movie was crazy. Crazy good though."

At one point, I rented every movie I could get my hands on that she was in. I've noticed I don't really like her as much in English-speaking roles though.
Just finished Sputnik Sweetheart. About to start on Kafka on the Shore. Anyone know anything about the different translations? I didn't realize until recently that the library copy I have was translated by someone different from the copy read and loved by the friend who recommended I read it. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not the differences are significant.
