Hey Allison - look how far behind I am !! I'm glad to see you comment on this - my summer reading is very Very slow - but I do need to get to this one ASAP! Thanks for nudging me toward it.
Two great choices !!
I love Poe - good excuse to go back and re-read some of his stuff. And the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been on my TRB for a long time so it will be good to get that one done for a group.

In the June 30th posting on Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Mihai took a look back over the readings so far in 2009. His conclusion about 2009 so far:
"I’ll be honest and say that in its majority it was a good year so far."
Mihai took stock of the 23 books that he has read and reviewed he noted the following as his top 5:
1. Gunpowder by Joe Hill
2. Twelve by Jasper Kent
3. Yellow Blue Tibia by Adam Roberts
4. Hater by David Moody
5. The Crown Conspiracy by Michael J. Sullivan
In last place, but not bad for a little book from a small press and a first time author. You can read his full posting by clicking here.
Well a few more days and the 1/2 way mark will be here. I'm at 27 books so I'm +2 on my goal - YA!!

I wasn't on GR (and hence this group) very much in April and May - I didn't know we did that category - sorry at being "out of the loop". I'll checkout "People of the Book"
The Crown Conspiracy is definitely in England - I'm not sure about Scotland. Avempartha is still working its way into the US chain stores so it will most certainly not be Overseas by then. We can ship any book overseas but the shipping is kind of expensive (more than the books) the best thing would be to order them before going they are not too big for packing.

I really appreciate books that bring in readers - Twight and Harry Potter are the two most notable. There is something to be said about a book that is just a fun enjoyable read - no shame required ;-)
Interesting.....I read the book years ago and I don't remember anything like that in my version (don't know if I still have it or not - its a cute idea.

Not specfically for July - But just some categories to think of for other months....
How about a book that is about "books" in one form or another such as:
The Book Thief
The Secret of Lost Things
InkHeart
The Gursney Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society
I've also been reading a lot of the "newbie" GoodRead authors and there is some great stuff out there. I would love to see a month where we choose one of those books that generally don't get as much attention as "the big boys".
As to July...War seems a bit "heavy" for summer - I would go with a "light summery read.
Just added "The Glass Castle" to my TBR list --- Shakes fist at the sky -- now I remember the compulsion that comes from this group. Being away for awhile had "cleaned up my TBR" I see it growing at an alarming rate again ;-)
Yvonne wrote: "I have started Eclipse from the Twilight series. First novel was good, second one was slow, hope this one is at a swifter pace."
That is EXACTLY how I felt about them. The third one I think is better than the 2nd but still not as good as the first - I've not read Breaking Dawn yet.
Yvonne wrote: "HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite of the HP books. I still need to read the last book of the series. "
That is my favorite as well.
As to Narnia - I personally like reading them in chronilogical order not "published" order but each person has to come to that on their own. It is still one of my favorite series.

I also have to list my hubby as my favorite GR author - it helps that he writes books "right for my tastes". Michael J. Sullivan

The Crown Conspiracy | Avempartha
Some of the others I enjoy:
Leslie Ann Moore
Dee Marie
Russ Woody
This is actually a selection for one of my face2 face groups - I should read it as I can discuss in two places but unfortunately this has "zero" appeal to me.
I'll admit it I'm a book hoarder - I loan them out (and most come back) but I usually don't give them away. I'm like Carol I love them all.
I have a few signed books - a shelf for signed books sounds cool - but I only have a few. Here are the one's I have signed - of course 2 of these are easy for me to get signed - the author lives with me ;-)
