Not too graphic considering the subject matter. Definitely suspensful in parts. I enjoyed this book because I'm really interested in people's theories about afterlife and what heaven must be like. Didn't you think her idea about heaven was intriguing? I also loved that it was narrated by the dead girl, such a cool perspective, and great writing.
Here are a few YA novels that earned 5 stars from me:
1. Holes by Louis Sachar
2. The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis
3. A Long Way from Chicago, and its sequel A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck
4. Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
I'm also a huge Kingsolver fan!! She is an amazing writer, and her books are all so different, from the sweet, funny Bean Trees to the epic, haunting Poisonwood Bible. I just wish she had more, I've read all of hers and loved them all for different reasons.
I grew up in the 70's, so I read everything Judy Blume!!! Loved them, possibly because they were a little controversial at the time, and my mom didn't want me reading them.
I also remember reading all of the popular horror books of the time, like Amityville Horror and Halloween. Books that I would never want to read now.
Interesting what this says about my adolescence!?!?
I like tons of different types of music. I've just started listening to these:
The Rocket Summer
Relient K
The Ataris
And my new favorite song is 1,2,3,4, by the Plain White T's, check it out!
I had been so looking forward to Marley and Me, and as a huge fan of the book, I have to say they did a great job with the movie. Touched on all the highlights of the book for me. Loved JA and OW, they were good. I am now rereading the book, and of course the book has a lot more in it, but the movie was definitely fun to watch, and a great one for kids. (just bring a hankie!)
Big Dog! I just went to see Marley Me the movie (I cried) and I have my own version of Marley here at home.

I have a new book to add, I'm just finishing it. It's called Wesley the Owl, by Stacy O'Brien. It's a memoir of a biologist and her 19 years raising and living with a barn owl. I am loving it!! If you liked Marley and Me, read this one.
I'd hook up Jim Chee from the Tony Hillerman books with Kinsey Millhone from the Sue Grafton alphabet mysteries. Kinsey needs a good, stable kind of guy, and they both solve crimes, though one's a cop and one's a PI.
Talk on the phone, or better yet face to face!
