1218 From Japan, the classic Musashi , is a must read. It's an epic novel of the Samurai era

From India, Sister of My Heart and The Vine of Desire, both by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. (If you love Amy Tan, most probably you will love her)
And I second RK Ranayan.

From my own country (Indonesia), The Buru Quartet by Pramoedya Ananta Toer: This Earth of Mankind, Child of All Nations, Footsteps and House of Glass

1218 I lost lot of books, but my greatest sorrow would be a whole series of Enyd Blyton's Mallory Towers, when I lent it to some girl at work.
They were collections from my childhood time.... silly..silly me..... :(

I hardly consider the "It" series a fantasy ones. I thought it was a true story or something. And John Grisham's??

Any thoughts for Inkheart? I just read it, and I LOVE IT!

1218 I know I remembered this title from somewhere, and now I do remember. I saw the movie. But then, I didn't know that it was taken from a book.
OOT - The Movie is in the same title and cast Elijah "Frodo" Wood as the young jewish. It's quite touching and has a superb, very artistic cinematographic. Hayes, maybe you should see the movie to add the boost to read it (or just to see the ending - movie version) ;)
