1218 I loved Marvin the depressed robot. He was the best character. ^_^

1218 My friend's a big fan of Agatha Christie. She read "And then there were none", and loved it. I just bought "An Unexpected Guest", and am anxious to read it. Does anyone have any other suggestions of her books?

1218 I love reading Horror/Thriller novels so here's my list: Stephen King, Jose Saramago, Sarah Pinborough, Brian Keene, Anne Rice, and James Patterson. My favorite horror novel of all time is Salem's Lot by Stephen King. I'm almost done with that now, and it has made me fall in love with Stephen King's writting. I'm going to read either The Shining, Misery, or The Tommyknockers next. :D

1218 I nominate Schindler's List by Thomas Keneally. It's a great story about what happened to Jews in Nazi Germany during WW2.

1218 Is the novella "The Body" in Different Seasons?
Dec 20, 2008 01:33PM

1218 Well, Stephen King wrote it in Salem's Lot. And the boy says that to get his mind off of the vampire floating outside his window. Really creepy stuff. Imagine your bestfriend floating outside your window with pitch black eyes, and he's tapping on your window saying, "Gina, let me in. I want to play with you!" That's what happens, and I think it means that kids believe that monsters are real, so they are the better prepared for those situations. While adults will just say it's a dream or have a heartattack. Kinda like the're in denial. I love Stephen King!

1218 Oh! That's a great quote Gina. Here's mine: "In vain he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts." - Stephen King (Salem's Lot)

1218 Thanks, I have The Gunslinger on my shelf to read. Everyone says it's sooo good. I'll read it after I read a few of his books. Thanks! What's a good short story collection of his? I was thinking of Skeletin Crew because it has The Mist in it.

1218 That's fine. So it's worth a read? What else is worth a read?

1218 Thanks, also Father Callihan revisits some of his novels. I got The Tommyknockers today. It was either that or Duma Key. I loved the movie so I got it. Can someone tell me a little more about Duma Key? The back of the book dosen't tell me much about it. Is it a ghost story? No spoilers please. Thanks! :D

1218 I'm almost 400 pages into Salem's Lot and have fallen in love with King all over again. This will be the first of his works that I'll finish. I tryed The Stand for my first of his books, I loved it but it was a little long for me. I'm going to start reading his other works first before attempting his epics. Oh and my favorite lines ever is: "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plane. In vain he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghost." page 360, Salem's Lot. I heard this line in the movie version of It and loved it. Now I know King uses repetition in his novels. :D

1218 Well Amber, Robert Mccammon wrote a book about a werewolf assassin who kills Nazis during WW2. It's called The Wolf's Hour, and is diffinately worth a read. It's a very exciting horror novel.
