Liz ~ The other two novels in the Inkworld trilogy are Inkspell and Inkdeath. They're both good, but Inkheart is by far the best one. If you like Inkheart you really need to give Harry Potter a try! I know that the massive amount of attention given to them can turn some people away but they really are fantastic books and they just get better as they go along (At least read up to the third book b/c the third book is a wonderful novel. It's intricate, subtle, and full of emotional depth without being heavy-handed) I hope you try them! :)
Suzanne/Sally/BJ Rose ~ I loved Inkheart as well and I would recommend not seeing the movie. I was very disappointed with it. So many things were left out and they took a huge amount of artistic license with the plot. Wendy ~ That's not crazy at all! I re-read books 1-6 and watched all the movies too before going to see the new Harry Potter (which is fantastic!)
I just started reading Anna Karenina I'm enjoying it, and I hope that it stays interesting since it is a very long book.
1. The Mists of Avalon ~ This book is so ridiculously long, but there are parts of the book that I just could not put it down. There were other parts that were physically painful to get through. I get frustrated with it b/c I hate having really slow parts in great novels. I just feel like that shouldn't happen. 2. The Cider House Rules ~ AMAZING book. I loved the whole thing. But there was something about the last few chapters and the way the book ended that really, really irked me. (I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into specifics) I was so frustrated b/c this could have been one of my favorite novels, there was just something off.
3. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle ~ Good lord. What didn't frustrate me about this book? I actually did like this book, mostly b/c I LOVED all of the dogs and the descriptions of the kennels, and I enjoyed Edgar's character. Mostly what frustrated me was that it was an almost literal parallel of Hamlet. I knew exactly what was going to happen at the middle and the end by the second chapter, just b/c I'm an English major and I know my Shakespeare backwards and forewards. I mean the character names even! Trudy = Gertrude, Claude = Claudius, Fort = Fortinbras, not very subtle if you ask me.
Haven't been on here in a while b/c of school and things but I decided to join back in :)I just started Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K Dick.
I love the film Blade Runner so my dad kept telling me to read the book. I'm really enjoying it so far.
Jeane- That sounds so great! I have always wanted to go to Ireland, we have a lot of family there but we've just never had the money to go. Yeah, I think it's awesome to celebrate St. Patrick's day even if you're not Irish. My problem is mainly with the ridiculous amount of alcohol consumption. It sounds like the parade there was fun and just really celebrating the day. Over here, like in New York and Boston, it's just a cesspool for really gross people to get plastered and have an excuse to be publicly drunk. My friend went one year and she said it was disgusting. That's my real problem with St. Patty's Day in America. Other than that I do think it's good fun.
This time of year always gets me so angry. Let me preface this by saying that while there are so many Americans that are like "Oh, I'm Irish!" I actually am. My dad's parents both immigrated from Ireland which makes me half-Irish (My mother's family is actually from Sweden which makes me a half-breed haha...Irish/Swedish ancestry, weird, no? But I digress...) I think it's a travesty that a national religious holiday has been turned into a sad excuse to drink green beer and get plastered. My dad's family celebrates St. Patrick's day but it's a very quiet family affair. And it's always religious in tone, they're very strong catholics. I know the whole tone of the holiday here really upsets my grandfather. It's just stupid Americans perpetuating stupid stereotypes about how drunk Irish people are all the time, and that go around ranting, "Oh, I'm Irish for the day!" Ugh. Temporary nationality to rationalize debauchery is no way to celebrate someone else's ancestry.

Fiona - I just started I Capture the Castle! It's my spring break this week and I figured this was the perfect time to read it. :)
Firefly was a TV series that was made by Joss Whedon(he was behind Buffy and Angel). It kind of gave a western spin to a science fiction show. Sounds corny but it's SO GOOD! It only got 14 episodes before Fox pulled it(because Fox is stupid). But Joss was so persistent about wanting to continue the story that he was finally able to get a movie deal which became Serenity. If you ever have time rent the TV series because it really is awesome. I've gotten so many people hooked on it haha.Oh I also wanted to add to my list :)
The Witches of Eileanan series by Kate Forsyth ~ A very well done, and not too heavy fantasy series
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A. McKillip ~ One of my favorite fantasy books when I was a kid.

JG - Oh, I totally agree! Joscelin really is yummy hee. I love his character. Have you ever seen Firefly or Serenity? I always thought the actress who plays Inara, Morena Baccarin, would make the perfect Phedre for a movie. Definitely move it up in the pile! I loved Poison Study so much. I think you'd really enjoy them.
Name your 10 favorite tear-jerker movies1. Love Story
2. Inside I'm Dancing
3. Ghost
4. The Notebook
5. I Am Sam
6. Once (Maybe not technically a "tear-jerker" but I start sobbing every time I watch it)
Terri - I picked up on the Hamlet thing right from the beginning! That might have been my problem with it. I had such a hard time getting through it and maybe it was because I knew what was going to happen in the end. SPOILER:
I mean it was so obvious from the beginning that Edgar=Hamlet, Trudy=Gertrude, Claude=CLAUDIUS(that's the one that really made me go OH, right, of course), Gar=Hamlet's dad, Dr. Papineau=Polonius, Glen Papineau=Laertes, Almondine=Ophelia, and Forte=Fortinbras. I also thought that Essay matched up nicely with Horatio. It was just so neatly tied up that I couldn't stand it. I've read Hamlet so many times for classes that I could have just read the beginning and then told you the basics of the plot.
I did love the dogs. That was my favorite part. I'm a huge dog-lover so all the stuff about training and the kennel really intrigued me.
Overall, I didn't hate it, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone.
The Sevenwaters Series by Juliet Marillier!! So, so fantastic. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman.
A Wrinkle in Time series by Madeline L'Engle
The Blood Jewels series by Anne Bishop
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
Harry Potter (obviously)
Fantasy is my favorite genre! (Harry Potter is totally a given so I'm going to cheat by just saying that I completely agree here and not add it to my list! heh) 1. The Sevenwaters Series by Juliet Marillier ~ I know I'm just echoing a couple people (which makes me very happy!!) but Daughter of the Forest is probably my favorite book of all time. This series is so good
2. The Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop ~ Read these very recently and got completely enraptured with the world she created.
3. Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey ~ I guess you're right JG it isn't for the squeamish but what makes it amazing is the fact that you absolutely fall in love with the heroine, S&M and all haha
4. Exiles series by Melanie Rawn ~ There's only two books so far, the third one has been a long time in coming and I'm beginning to despair of it ever being published. But the first two are fantastic books.
5. The Study series (Poison Study, Magic Study, Fire Study) by Maria V. Snyder ~ This is a great fantasy series. She created a very original world without getting too bogged down with the details. I HIGHLY recommend the first book Poison Study
