Lori, my edition (the Centennial Edition) has the same Liza/Lisa error you mentioned, on page 141. I am also glad you brought up the point about the plot as I was wondering the same thing. This said, I am really enjoying the book. It is soaked in details, but you barely even notice Steinbeck writes in such a way.
My first Steinbeck and so far so good.
I was drawn to the Twilight series to see what all the buzz was about too. I just finished the series and despite all of the over-analyzing many people or parents have done...I liked them. It is a YA read and I gathered they are supposed to be nothing but entertaining, which they were. I was totally sucked in and flew through them.I personally didn't notice any grammatical errors, but I think I was too busy enjoying the story to notice if they were there.
I am such a high school girl right now, but yes...i have a crush on a fictional character; Edward Cullen. Good lord.
I prefer hardcovers. They look nicer in my bookcase! I do take off the sleeves when I read though, so I don't ruin them. I carry a book around with me everywhere, so the softcovers tend to get semi-bent up also. I will only buy hardcovers when they are on sale though, since I rarely want to pay the hardcover price no matter how much I prefer them.
Except for classics I guess.
I WISH I had mine memorized, because its a pain finding my purse and looking for the card every time. Ugh....
Ok, everyone is typing "f-word"... should I be ashamed of my sailor mouth because I typed the whole word out?!? :)
What page are you on Laura? I too, and enjoying this book and look forward to reading his others. It's an amusing read. :)
5 books I would by right now out of my hundreds of TBR would be:
1. The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
3. Rick Steves' Italy 2007
4. Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates
5. The Josaphine Bonaparte Collection by Sandra Gulland (that counts right..pretend its a packaged deal!)
I enjoy series, especially when its a good one, because I'm often disappointed when finishing a good book. A series provides another to look forward to.
However, I tend to put series' off for a while, since they are a bigger commitment.
Good idea Jeremy!

I am SO proud of my Chargers. If there was any team to play our best against...it was the Pats. They've beat us the last 3 matchups. Finally!
Sorry Jeremy. :(
P.S. Good for the Browns!

The final 5 seconds of the Dallas/Arizona game... a lesson why NOT to "ice the kicker." Hahahaha, that's what he gets!
I just finished Without Reservations and quite enjoyed it. I hope to be a traveler like her. She travels with the intent of getting to know the city, not have a set plan, and just be there. She has such a way of observing the details of a city, while still seeing all the sites and meeting new people.
I am now moving on to A Dirty Job. This is my first Christopher Moore book, but I continuously hear how funny his books are so I can't wait to dive into his collection.
