Sorry! I didn't check this for a while. The Continental Op is the main character in Dashielle Hammett's "Red Harvest" which is the last book I read. His real name is never given. He is an operative for The Continental Detective Agency out of San Fransisco. Sorry for the confusion. Carry on!
