LOL...I thought we were talking about ads in general...my bad. I never noticed any of the ads on here. That's sad in a way. I guess I'm so bombarded at every site I go to, my eyes ignore them everywhere.
ahhh earworm. Funny. Rihanna's Disturbia...bum bum beebum bum bum beeum bum....seriously what can I do to get rid of it when they play the song over and over.
I'm with you Catalina, also I don't really need to see pad and tampon ads. I can figure out what I need thank you very much. Furthermore, there isn't a chance in hell I'm dancing around like that when Aunt Flo is visiting. And if they're trying to say their brand will make my period that great, I think I'll sue.

That's a tough one, I left it, but it looks like no one else can think of one either. I think I know something good about every month. So if I had no choice I would take away November. Go right from Halloween to Christmas, Falling leaves to falling snow. Plus we get out of winter darkness sooner.
If I could have one great talent it would be...
I would want to experience reading Phenomenal Woman on a stage to crowd of women as Maya Angelou.
If I could make any author change one thing in any book it would be?

I think this might upset the hubby slightly so I'll give that a pass.
I know this is about Age Banding, but regarding the library banning books, that should be illegal. A library is a public place, paid for with public tax dollars and therefore should give us access to any book. If anyone doesn’t like it, don’t pick it up. In fact I think all libraries should have a banned books section. Reading is part of gaining knowledge and that should never be banned.
Now regarding the banding I agree with a previous post that grade level is a nice way to go. If my child is reading at a level 3 grades above her she should read those books, regardless of her age. She should always be striving to read more and read books that are a challenge; not sitting with books deemed her age level, never reading anything to challenge her. Besides who the hell decides? What I allow is not what another parent might allow, it's ridiculous to forces the beliefs of a few people on all parents.
I also agree with Leppaluoto, Kids will only read what they are interested in, and if they can't understand it they will lose interest. Yes TV is different, even I find myself watching crap I can't stand, so I believe in restricting TV and movies, but the written word is left entirely up the imagination of the reader and age banding it just another way for the governments to control what we're reading.
Stacie...I love gargoyles, I always wanted to collect them, but they aren't really the type of thing you can keep in an apartment.
I used to collect eggs, I haven't gotten any recently...I saw this beautiful Faberge Egg in Harrods once and I loved it so much, but I could not afford 12000 pounds for an egg the size of my thumb nail. After that I started collecting eggs.
They're all hand made, I have some from africa, india, Ukraine, and one glass one made right in my home province. The trouble with collections is you need a place to put them and after you have kids, some how a space that used to seem really big is now really really teeny tiny...lol
OMG That would be such cool thing to try to do. I wonder if something like that would actually work.
Why doesn't everyone meet me here in Vancouver in 2010. Mind you I can't fit 800 people in my apartment, but I am 15 minutes from an olympic venue...lol.
LOL...oh how dare you Lori.
My Bad... I wasn't sure where to put it...I think you can probably even delete it now, I just wanted to get my thank you in. I can't imagine any more discussion going on in here.
Yes it is, I checked Amazon after you told me about it and it wasn't available, ebay actually had 2, from the pictures I chose the better copy. Lucky me.
Thanks again.
Leppaluoto,
I couldn't remember which thread you recommended this book in...lol, but I wanted to say thanks. I managed to find a hard copy for 5 bucks on ebay, it should be here in a week. I think my daughter is going to love it.
I can't believe this group had 9 whole minutes without activity...I read everything in here Friday, and didn't have a chance to look all weekend. Of course there are now hundreds of post...I don't know if I'll be able to get caught up again...lol. I need TNBBC linked to my blackberry...(if I had one)
I've always wondering what on earth possesed those idiots to put stickers on the books anyway. A sign saying 50% off would work just as well. It's even more annoying when they're over the title or author name...drives me bonkers.
Oh thank you Leppaluoto...I will look for that this weekened, my daughter is worst than David Suzuki.
I really wish I knew anything about star wars...but other than having my face digitally put over Natalie Portman to make me the princess while in Disney World...I haven't a clue... The Star Tour ride was fun though...lol
Brick Lane, was the most recent one I saw, we enjoyed that...its been a while before that. It was about a year ago I watched this one called Walk on Water, I really liked that one.
If I see anymore I'll post them.
