My favorite Thanksgiving story is Louisa May Alcott's An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving. It's pretty short, so it might not be the best for a book discussion, but then again, it would be something fun and easy to talk about for those who might not have a lot of time to read.
Right now, I'm reading Nicholas Sparks' The Guardian. I'm about halfway through and I like it so far! It took a little bit to pick up for me, and it is kinda fluffy, but that's perfect for me since I only get every so often to read while I'm here at school!
I'm reading Dances with Wolves and The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks, and I'm enjoying both of them so far.
1. I've watched it so many times that it's probably unhealthy. 2. I still cry...every time.
Tell me two things you do immediately upon waking up.
Physical bookstore, definitely. I can't even begin to describe how excited I was when my town got a Barnes and Noble a year or so ago. It's a magical place for me. Really, any bookstore is. The smell, the feeling of the books. The big comfy chairs to plop down in and read a sample. I love them.
Jazz. I'm a huge jazz fan. Would you rather listen to the radio or your own ipod/mp3 player/itunes/windows media/etc.?
Rory Gilmore, in a second. If you could live during one season for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Yeah, but Jonathan, Lori set up some specific rules for us to follow...namely, that as a member of the group, you should comment on some of the threads/get to know us/actually be a member of the group before posting these kind of promotions. And trust me, you do not want to set Lori off on the spam thing. She's not very forgiving.
Of course, depending on the book, it usually calms me down before falling asleep. I can focus on the story, instead of whatever bothered me throughout the day. The person below me likes to spend rainy days curled up in bed, reading.
I finished the Twilight series yesterday, and I have to say, I was satisfied with the way the series ended. Now, I'm reading The Secret Life of Bees, and I'm going to start The BFG, as well.
I can read anywhere and while I'm doing anything (excluding anything having to do with water). I can even read while I'm walking, which saves me from hours of boredom when I have to go grocery shopping with my parents! I have seasonal favorites too--in the winter/fall, I like to curl up on a sofa or a big comfy chair with some tea. In the summer, I read stretched out in the grass or on the porch with some iced tea.
Finished New Moon and started Eclipse. Definitely don't consider them the BEST BOOKS EVARRRR like so many teenage girls, but I enjoy them. What can I say? I like escapism.
Frog legs. I've eaten them before and they're not half-bad. They kinda taste like chicken! Would you rather live in an impeccably clean house that can seem cold or would you rather live in a slightly messy house with a home-y lived-in feel?
Spent yesterday with my best friend at the local trade bookstore. Picked up 7 books for about $6! The Guardian - Nicholas Sparks
Christine - Stephen King
The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - Mark Haddon
The Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
The Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield
Animal shelter...I'm a sucker for animals. It's why I want to be a veterinarian! Would you rather re-read your favorite book over and over again for the rest of your life or never get to read it again?
To be the editor of the New York Times Book Review. If you could choose one author to travel the world with, who would it be?
