I just ordered three more books from there, last Friday. I always look there for my wants before I look anywhere else. My friend from work turned on to this website and I could kiss hime everytime I buy three or four books for ten bucks!
I just bought Shogun, Gone With the Wind, and Les Miserables from Betterworld Books! I'm so excited, I want to jump the mail truck until my books come! lol!
I spent Christmas money on more bookshelves, bigger, deeper, wider shelves that make my pile seem diminished, does that mean I can buy more to make the shelves look full again? That kinda was my plan even though I told my husband it was to clean up the old bulging bookshelf. I'm trying to save money for a real vacation this year but I NEED so many more books....oh temptation .
Started The Gargoyle the other day. The first couple chapters were hard to read, I got sweaty picturing the medical procedure. It makes burning your hand on the stove seem trivial!
I just finished the book and I really enjoyed it once the first 50 pages or so were done and I got a grasp on the story. I won't remember this story though and I had truely hoped to love it, coming off all the positive reviews.
Lori, are you reading the Sookie Stackhouse series? I just finished them and absolutely loved them! I resisted them for a while, not usually liking vampire stuff, but I really enjoyed those. Also, I heard there is another one coming out next year!
Thanks Angela! I was reading through the old threads but was confused about the categories, I didn't realize we voted on and set up categories before the actual event started. I am excited now because it's a nice way to find new favorite authors.
I second Heather, I'm not real sure of the rules and regulations but this game sounds fun and challenging and I'd like to join. Anyone care to explain please?
I too am pround to be American, and be alive and coherent to tell my children I watched and was a part of history being written.
Just starting Extremely Loud by Foer, recently read History of Love by Krauss, which I found very dry and am bursting to read Blindness. Lori's love of this one prompted me to buy it and I can't wait to read it!
Fiona, I first picked it up 10 years ago while pregnant..I thought it would last the whole time but I ended up finishing it in about a week and loved the story so much have read it two more times. I guess like anyone elso it never seemed as daunting as some books, I would rather read that than Grapes of Wrath for some odd reason. That book scares me!
I have read War and Peace over and over again. I have also read Prince of Tides a couple times and my Stephen King novels I reread every few years, usually around Halloween. Those are about it, I'm sure there's a couple more, To Kill A Mockingbird...I can't remember any more.
I started reading Charlaine Harris vampire series recommended by a co worker who loved them! So far they are easy to get through and quite entertaining.
I like hardbacks or trade paperbacks for the fact that they keep their shape and are harder to destroy in my household. I buy paperbacks if they catch my fancy but those I usually swap out with friends and coworkers.
I am only on page 199 so far but I am loving the story and can't bear to put it down. I'm glad someone else has enjoyed it because my friends have had mixed reviews!
