I'm trying to figure out why you feel the need to bring all of this up again two months later. We've all moved onto other topics, but it seems like you just enjoy provoking people. In one post, you say that you don't want to alter your life to accomodate what you consider "trash". Yet here in this group, which consists of almost 6,000 members, you don't consider that what you say may be offensive to some of them.
I think here on this site, especially in this group, which I consider to be a fantastic group of well-read people and friends, I think we can find better ways to express ourselves rather than calling the moderator a "fucking hypocrite".
*Edited to continue rant*
Finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which I loved. I highly recommend it. Over the weekend, I started Death by Zamboni by David David Katzman.

Damn it, Dan! Now I have that song stuck in my head! ;)
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (book & movie)
I love the threads you start, Fiona! They really make me feel like I'm getting to know everyone better.
There has been so many books I've loved this year! I really feel I had a pretty good reading year (all thanks to Goodreads, and especially here in the group). I didn't really set a goal this year, but it's great just to keep track of the books I read, and it inspired me to set a goal for next year. I think I've read about 75 so far this year, so I'm going to try for 100 in 2010. Oh, and just read from my terrifyingly large owned TBR books (really, I mean it this time!)
Some new authors I finally got around to reading this year that I now love include:
David Mitchell
Haruki Murakami
Lance Carbuncle
David Maine
I joined Goodreads in March of 2008, but didn't find TNBBC until March of this year. It really ignited my passion for reading even more, and now I can't even imagine not having TNBBC to discuss all things books. Ever since joining Goodreads, I try and read a lot of different books from different authors. It's great learning about so many different things, and I never feel like I'm in an author-rut.
Some books I LOVED this year: (I'll try and keep it short, but it'll be hard)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson
The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Some I wasn't too happy with:
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (painful)
The Double by Fyodor Dostoevsky (eh)
Joining TNBBC has made it physically impossible for me not to stop at any and every book sale and used bookstore I can find, but I LOVE it!
Just found Olive Kitteredge: A Novel in Stories and Anthem Centennial Edition by Ayn Rand at the thrift shop for a quarter each!
I finally finished Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger. I haven't had a whole lot of reading time the past week, so I was glad to get it done. That, and every time I would finish a story, I would immeadiately go back and re-read parts. Very good book.
I am now starting The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
It was a good day at the mailbox yesterday! These were waiting for me when I got home:
Button Button: Uncanny Stories by Richard Matheson from a swap
Death by Zamboni by David David Katzman (Goodreads author, and a hell of a funny guy) from Amazon
Fallen by David Maine from Lori (awesome hardcover edition)
I love when the shipping from different book orders all coincide and come at the same time.
This is too funny. I thought I was the only one who got grossed out at the word "moist". The word "fresh" always makes me cringe as well.
I also have a love/hate feeling towards "verbose". It bugs the hell out of me, but at the same time I like it...
Yeah, having to pack up all my books to move has been the only thing ever to deter me from buying books. I knew I was in trouble when it took 8 boxes just to load up my children's books.
I've decided 2010 is going to be the year I read strictly from my TBR and really, REALLY try not to buy more. (We'll see how long that lasts...)
