1218 Hi Beth-in the last shelf-a-thon challenge we didn't post our titles on purpose. It kind of makes it more challenging that way. If someone read a book that touched 90+ shelves then posted it we would all run out and read it too and then some of the work is taken out of the game. I know it sounds silly to be so secretive about it all but that's part of the challenge. Maybe we could all post our lists once the challenge is over.

1218 Hi Meghan!!! It's great to see you here! This group is awesome, you'll love it!

You're right that time traveling for a woman (or young girl) could possibly be even more harrowing than it is for a man. I agree that a story about Alba would be interesting-I wonder if she'll ever do it.

1218 Did you like Possessing the Secret of Joy? I read it years ago but thought it was very powerful.

1218 I loved this book-it was so full of waiting and longing it hurt. I listened to the audio of this one and I think it helped to suck me in more and to keep things clearer since there were two different narrators.

I loved the scene where Clare and Henry are at a club (can't remember who they were seeing) and older Henry lept in (sorry-guess that Quantum Leap, not TTTW!) and Clare talks about how hard it is to be will the present day him who isn't as evolved yet as his time traveling self. I thought that was such an interesting concept-how she had to deal with so many versions of Henry and how much she liked some versions better than others.

I too found the scene with Clare's father and brother confusing and want to go back and re-read that section now for clarification.

I remember getting to the part where Henry meets Alba at the museum and we realize he's dead and not wanting to read anymore knowing it was going to be so sad!

The previews for the movies make me choke up (Although I have pregnancy hormones working against me!) but I really want to see it. I'm not sure that sitting through a movie 8+ months pregnant will be so comfortable but I don't know that I want to wait.

1218 I'm about halfway through and I'm definitely interested so far. Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.

1218 Okay I finally made myself sit down and pick the actors for the casting call task (15 pts)

I read Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisenberger and really didn't like it and therefore didn't really care about who would play the characters in a movie! I was torn on picking actors I liked to play characters I didn't like but then I couldn't fill the whole thing with actors I hate either. I spent way too much time on this for what I have-a random list of actors, but I had to get it done!

Leigh-Kate Hudson
Emmy-Zooey Deschanel
Adriana-Salma Hayek (even if she's not Brazilian-I thought of Sonia Braga but she's too old)
Toby-Paul Rudd
Russell-Patrick Dempsey
Jesse-Thomas Jane
Duncan-Skeet Ulrich
Paul-Jake Gyllenhaal

1218 Was just going to sit back and vote this time but then I thought of one I've been wanting to read-not sure how the movie was but here goes.

Category 2

In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez

1218 Spoilers.....

Angela, it's been a while-was David the boyfriend? If so I think he was real but it seemed like their relationship wasn't as solid as what it seemed. I'm not sure about why the daughters were made up-wasn't there something about Laurel's childhood and what they represented to her? Not that that makes anything much clearer-lol-just that they seemed to serve some purpose for her-some form of self protection or fulfillment or something.

The book was really clever for so many reasons-like I said the mixture of the real vs. the delusional was what really made it for me. It would be cool to get to ask the author all of these questions!
