1218 So sorry to hear that ;-( But looks like you are making the best of it with your reading. Enjoy!

1218 I too loved Rosie - I'm not so sure the author had to make the twist where Rosie was responsible for the death. I could have been fine with him just getting trampled in a stampede. I kind of didn't want her to "strike back".

The circus in the book is a "rundown" circus and there are some abuses of the animals. For me it was not "hard to take" it seemed to fit the gritty reality of the world the book is set in. So I think you are recalling the correct book - but I wouldn't let that dissuade you from reading it.

Judith - you are the person below me and I want to thank you for having such a great variety of books to choose from for my 25 point challenge!

1218 For 3. ANGELA’S TASK - Look for your first post in the Official Spring Challenge. Once you find it, look at the person below you and go to their profile and pick TWO books to read off of their shelves. If their profile is listed as private, go to the person below that person. -- Can it be a book on their TBR pile - or must they have read it?

1218 This is one of my newest favorite books - I really liked the technique of alternating between the old man in the nursing home and his life with the circus. I really fell for the main character and was genuinely concerned with his well being.

1218 I loved this book - but I must say when Kinko and Camel died - I was so upset. It almost spoiled it for me.

1218 Ugh - Sorry to hear that Lisa - I had back surgery 2 years ago and there is nothing worse then back pain. Luckily for me the surgey was a sucess and I'm now pain free - the only problem is I did have nerve damage that resulted in my left side of my left foot being in perminent "sleep mode" - where I have pins and needles 24x7 - but still a small price to pay compared to the back pain I had before surgery. I hope you're not in too much pain.

I would love to find a good biography on Ghandi - Let me know what you think of this. My #2 favorite movie of all time is Ghandi with Ben Kingsley - what a FABULOUS MOVIE!
