Jacqueline Carey is a quality author, I read a couple of her first series when they were first published...loved her writing, but the plotline just wasn't my cuppa (BDSM). Santa Olivia is on my TBR...soon hopefully!
This is the first book from Ms. Carey that is not part of her original series, so I'm assuming it's the beginning of a new series :-)
PnR was and is hugely popular long before Trublood and Twilight. Those may be the only examples some people are familar with, but this genre certainly isn't new or limited to those examples.
Dawn, Maybe it was my mood, but couldn't get into Heart Of The Wolf by Spears, quit after a few chapters. I see she has a new book out.
Jess, We don't all have to like the same books! I loved Sunshine, but there are other books readers rave about that I don't like at all. It's all good! My theory...if we all like the same thing, there wouldn't be enough chocolate in the world for me!
Kelly Ann, I don't remember anything in this book that would spoil the rest of the series for you. Great insight into the relationship between Jeremy & Clay, which may even enhance reading the others. So go for it!
I also read a library copy, and recognized several parts from the authors website. Was good reading all together in book form.
Thanks for sharing the covers Bonnie! Those are wonderful. The artist appears Japanese, and they draw more delicate men.
I have several books going to PBS soon, anyone want them first?
1. Accidental Goddess by Linnea Sinclair (because she's an active Goodreads author & it's a great read)
2. The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox
3. King of Sword and Sky by C.L. Wilson (Tairen Soul #3)
4. C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp "Touch of..." trilogy, offering the set.
5. Last of the Red-Hot Vampires by Katie MacAlister
If interested, contact me at PBS (fangrrl) or GR pm.
My sense of humor must be broken, 'cause alot of the authors readers insist are funny...just aren't to me. But Jennifer Rardin cracks me up...her and Shelly Laurenston. They are both funny.
Enjoy!
Her...Rob Thurman is female. Like you, I discovered this after reading Nightlife and was very surprised. She writes well from the male perspective, maybe she has lots of brothers? She also has a short story in the Wolfsbane & Mistletoe anthology, also from the male persp.
Think I have a library copy, but totally awash in books and RL just now :-(
I like Kelley Armstrong's writing style, but her actual plots can be rather hit or miss for me.
New fans for Rob Thurman & Jennifer Rardin, Yay!! Two of my more favorite authors.
Kenjii, the second Demonica is due out this spring!
Jess, I couldn't get into Witchling either :-( really don't get the raves over this author. Not like my TBR isn't overflowing anyway!
PS Went to a FOL sale yesterday, either of these books on anyone's wish list?
Awaken Me Darkly by Gena Showalter
Eternal Hunger by Cameron Dean
I also have:
The Smoke Thief & The Dream Thief
both lovely hardback editions by Shana Abe with dust jackets
pm me if interested.
Definately...make it work for you. If you have credits but are waiting on wish list books, don't put a bunch into the system that will cost you postage. I keep a box under the computer table to keep my PBS books seperate. I'm seeing more envelopes used for mailing, even for single mmpb. It may be slightly easier, but I'm thinking the PBS recommended wrap is more secure for average books.
Definately...keep an extensive wish list at PBS, not only will it start getting you some of the books you want, but your friends & buddys can check with your WL before posting into the general FIFO system.
I've also been using the library alot lately. Just checked out Bone Crossed, and it sure beats buying the hardback. And although I'm only like 63 on a waitlist of 578 at PBS, if I want a copy for my keeper shelf I'll wait for the paperback edition anyway. Works great!
I liked the concept, but the character interaction and dialogue seemed sophomoric. Which is a big turn-off for me. So was wondering if the author worked out the bugs & improved her writing style.
I was having difficulties navigating PBS earlier today also, I just thought my computer was being weird. I closed everything, did another online errand and PBS was working fine later. It's usually very user friendly.
I had one mailing problem, and now double check everything. Like Kenjii, I print shipping label & immediately insert into the book. Then when wrapping, I double check again.
Kenjii, I've seen more & more readers admit they do all or part of their trade books this way. Especially those who like to keep most of their own books.
Jess, After awhile PBS members learn what moves quickly, then you can watch sales for books that will earn you quick/cheap credits!
Depends on when you could send them out. Consider the times involved, you have two days to accept the request. Then after that I think you have 4 or 5 days to ship. If that's not long enough, cancel several of them, and repost later.
Are they all going to seperate addresses? If anyone ordered more than one, you can ship those first. More credits for the postage.
You must have desirable books. So if you cancel, you may want to repost a few at a time so they don't move faster than you want to ship.
Kenjii, any advice?
