Weird. It's supposedly in the first volume of the collected stories, so it's probably been 10 years or so since I read it. Will have to check it out when I get home tonight.
The movies Paycheck and Next were also based on PKD short stories and I think there have been a few other fairly obscure films based on some of his stories. Apparently a movie version of Radio Free Albemuth is due to be released this year.
Hi, Mike here. I had a girlfriend about 15 years ago who was a big PKD fan and at some point 4-5 years later when I was looking for a new author to read, I remembered how much she liked his work and started reading it myself.I've read 37 of his 44 novels as well as all of his short stories which are readily available. My favorites (in no particular order) are Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, The Man in the High Castle, and A Scanner Darkly. I have to admit that much as I enjoy his work, many of his books have completely blended together in my mind; they can lack a certain distinction from each other.
A few people have commented how they like the fact that he doesn't explain how the technology works. Someone once described his work as science fiction of psychology (or the mind) rather than science fiction of technology, which I think is a very accurate description.
