Thank you, Everyone, for such great topics and great new reads too look into!! As a general rule, lets only keep "currently reading" books up for a month and then move them into the "read" or "to be read" file.
I appreaciate all the authors who have joined this group, it is always wonderful to hear about new up and coming books!
Thank you!
Jaime
I have been wanting to read Alice in Wonderland but from a historical prospective... does anyone know of a website or printing that has a way to do that? I want to know what all the symbolism means and where it comes from.
I would have to agree that I also did not like the book Artemis Fowl, but for different reasons. It seemed as if the author couldn't decide who the protagonist was.
On another note, I think the suggestion of THE DARK IS RISING trilogy got lost and I would have to say that it was a great read(albiet, an awful movie).
I didn't like the movie and it turned me off from reading the book. But I keep looking at it when I'm in the bookstore. Sounds like you enjoy the storyline... I may have to pick up a copy and read it anyway.
I really enjoyed Inkheart too. It was very well written and the emotions of the characters where just right! What a unique story!
I've just started reading Inkheart. It's good so far, about a little girl who loves to read books and her father who is a bookbinder. Starts off with great intrigue.
I'm a huge fan of vampire novels. I have heard good things about this one! I will have to try it out.
LOL! I will remember not to read the last 2 pages! I grew up with woods behind my house, so it will be very interesting to see what kind of adventures Trevor goes through. I will definitely check it out!
Also try The Dark is Rising.. that movie just came out too, but the book is better!
I am a huge fan of Tamora Pierce. She mostly writes for female protagonists. Her books are fantasy novels, but there is no offensive language, I wouldn't call it graphic violence but her characters do battle with swords and magic and no sex (at least non that I remember). Otherwise, the Dark Materials by Philip Pullman was amazing. I also enjoy Monica Furlong's novels.
Yea - I read the first book and but I am reading the second and third all in one go and it's really good! Eragon will definitely be next!
Reading Eragon is on my to do list - I can never seem to pick it up. I am still reading Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials". It's amazing! But I only like it as one book, not as three.
By far my favorite author in this genre is Tamora Pierce. I've read all of her series'. She has a knack for writing relatable female heroes. I can read her books over and over again!
