Doesn't matter to me whether the protagonist is male or female. The most important aspect is that the character(s) is believable. That said, I do find myself pleasantly surprised on the rare occasion when I find a well written female protagonist, in any genre, written by a male. It does seem women are much better at capturing the essence/spirit of both male and female existence! Just MHO!

I'm really excited about The Wise Man's Fear as I so loved Name of the Wind. I can't wait for it to come out. Otherwise, I'm engaged in a multi-year project of clearing my bookshelves of a tremendous back log of purchasing! :o)
What a tour de force I found The Name of the Wind to be. I can't wait for the sequel to arrive. I've banned the purchase of books for myself, well at least limited them to one per month, but this will be one that I'm there to purchase upon release.
Thanks for the update!
