10915 Niranjana, it is the first of a trilogy.

The Wise Man's Fear is next, publish date TBD, sometime in 2010 most likely.

10915 I am really excited to read this one, but I'm glad Rothfuss cares enough about it to work on it for so long, so I'm content to wait :)

10915 I'm reading the Vampire Academy series right now, and like Twilight...they are YA. But--quite a bit darker. They explore more adult themes, and there are two different types of vampires warring with each other, and one of them is definitely evil...maybe she'd like them?

Vampire Academy is the first.

And, this series doesn't involve vampires (at least not to my knowledge, I've only read the first book), but they are all very popular...Daughter of the Blood series by Anne Bishop. Daughter of the Blood.

I'm very impressed by your list. If I tried to make one, about the only thing I could guarantee is that NONE of the books on it would get read.

oh. you're here now? :)
10915 I have read, and loved, Howl's. I thought it was a very cute and funny read. There is a really cool movie too, even has the voice of Christian Bale as Howl!

Diana Wynne Jones is a very fun and creative author, I have enjoyed everything I've read by her so far.

10915 I just started Daughter of the Blood, and I'm very intrigued so far. I can't say I love it yet because its still confusing, but I'm definitely interested to see where it goes.
10915 ditto that Becky, I wanna read both those too...good noms :)

10915 Can you read Kushiel's Dart and just stop there? I think it looks really good, but I don't particularly want to be sucked in to another series.

10915 I'm finally starting A Game of Thrones. I'm only about a hundred pages into it and haven't decided what I think about it yet.

The Curse of Chalion and Lud-In-The-Mist are on deck.

10915 well, after reading so much about it, I decided I had to order Tigana. I should get it next week and I'm looking forward to reading it! :)

10915 yeah, I agree Laurel. I will be completely jazzed when we know the release date...but I am content to wait for it :)
10915 yeah Robin, I get that. I guess since I read you guys talking about it I was expecting to be left hanging...if I hadn't had warning I might have been more upset about it.

10915 I just read The Name of the Wind last week...I LOVED it! I cruised right through the entire book, one of my favorites. I hope you guys start enjoying it more!

I also read Sabriel last week...loved it as well. I am really excited to finish off the trilogy.
10915 I nominate Lud-In-The-Mist by Hope Mirrlees.

It is one of Neil Gaiman's Top 10 favorite books (as per an interview on bn.com), and I think it looks interesting!

Here is the GR summary:

This is the story of Master Nathaniel Chanticleer, a respectable burgher who learns that his young son has eaten forbidden faery fruit. Lud-in-the-Mist, of the title, is a quasi-medieval town, governed by Master Nathaniel Chanticleer. The town is of the very sensible sort, but being bordered on the west by Fairyland and the Debatable Hills, there are problems in the trafficking of illegal fairy fruit, which Nathaniel's young son eats. The real story underneath concerns the place of fantasy and the imagination in real life, and in the end there is a fine reconciliation of the two. There are swirling subplots as well, which add layers of mystery to an extraordinarily enchanting tale.
10915 no! me? :)

well, good thing you'll be reading it soon whether it wins or not, so I have nothing to worry about.
10915 Becky, nice choice ;)
