Since our poll resulted in an overwhelming 96% in favor of having authors join in our discussion, I invited Brandon to join our discussion of Warbreaker in January when I saw him Saturday at his book signing in San Jose. He said he would and asked me to send his assistant the information so I have done so!Start reading if you haven't already, this is going to be a terrific discussion you won't want to miss!
Me with Harriet McDougal (Robert Jordan's widow and editor) and Brandon Sanderson
I just picked up my copy in anticipation of Brandon's book signing here in San Jose next weekend! He'll be at the Barnes & Noble in Eastridge next Saturday from 2-5pm along with Harriet MacDougal (Robert Jordan's widow and editor) to sign The Gathering Storm and his blog says he'll also sign his titles. I'm going to invite him to join our discussion of Warbreaker.
Post here if you are currently reading our December read/January discussion book, Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, or let us know if you plan to read for our discussion.

I prefer huge books, 1,000 pages or more, and a series of all huge books are wonderful as long as they are well written and not boring. I've tried to read James A. Michener and found huge isn't necessarily the entire criteria. I love the Wheel of Time series as well as the Kushiel series. I do enjoy the occasional short, 300 pages or less books, but only if I'm needing some light reading such as when I'm traveling of have just finished a huge, deep, thought provoking book. But I tend to gravitate towards the big books.
I've posted a new poll to help understand whether the members here like it when authors participate in the discussions of the books they wrote. This poll will be open for two weeks, until November 24th. Please take a moment to let us know your opinion so we know whether to invite authors to future discussions.
Landon wrote: "I would like to nominate Lord Foul's Bane book 1 of the Thomas Covenent, The Unbeliever series."Landon, it really helps if you use the "add book/author" link above the entry box for comments so people can click on the title and read a synopsis. Is this the book you intended to nominate??
Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson
I'd like to nominate Servant of a Dark God by John Brown, he's a new author published by Tor Books and this is the first of a new series that looks quite promising!
I'd like toi nominate Avempartha by Michael Sullivan for the GR author and Banewreaker by Jacqueline Carey for the General Fantasy.
I listened to the audio book read by Tim Curry and he purred out Mogget's lines so exquisitely, I'll always put his voice to that character!
I've read several reviews here on Goodreads and some of the reviewers mention that this series might not really be appropriate for some young adults. Do you agree or disagree? and why?
What did you think of the paper wing? Did you think if feasible that something made of paper would support so many humans?
