10252 I don't think I've ever read Wuthering Heights. It's one of those things where I'd seen bits and pieces of the movie, finally saw the whole thing, but I'm not sure about the book. My guess is no.

10252 Is it only board monitors who can see who is visiting?

10252 Deborah said: Many, many folks are too busy to learn new tricks and others seem to have issues with the turns we've taken.

I still have a lot to learn about GR. For one thing, don't email me here if you expect me to see it! I just found out we even had that function and I'm not likely to remember. However, I know enough to function on a daily basis and for now, I'm happy with that.

I know there have been issues at times, and I've even had a few myself. I've gotten past them and I think that the group as a whole is worth more to me than the occasional annoying situation. It always passes.

I hope we can maintain, but if not, it sure has been fun.

10252 Facebook is not really interferring with my time here, but it is an added place of fun. I will come here as long as there are posters.

I didnt' realize you could see who looks without posting and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I often read, but if I have nothing to say, I'm not going to post. I read all of the threads, but some simply don't hold interest for me. Still, I like to see what the rest of you are thinking about any topic. You are such interesting people!

10252 Nope, didn't try that. Thanks for the tip.

Missing Friends (9 new)

10252 As the holiday season rolls around and I'm off for winter break and thus have both more and less time, I am noticing that so many people are missing from BNC. I won't name names for fear of missing someone, but I surely see holes in the fabric of the group. Although I find myself spending more time on Facebook-----------and I never expected that-----------this was still my first stopping place each evening. I can't imagine this group fading away. Where will I find good book recommendations and good conversation about anything and everything? I truly care about the friends I have made here and I'm sorry to see this fading away. Is there any way to stop the loss or is it inevitable?

Either way, I wish you all the best of holidays with lots of good reading.

10252 I guess it never occured to me that cuckoos were real. Are they local to one part of the world? I can't imagine listening to that over and over.

10252 Sounds like a clever idea, though I don't think I get that channel.

10252 My mom kept her can of drippings under the sink I think. It's amazing we are all still here to tell the story.

10252 I'm sorry to hear that Kevin and his wife are divorcing. Divorce is never easy.

10252 I love country fried steak, but only allow it about once a year. This recipe looks yummy, but maybe more work than i want to mess with. For one thing, I don't keep bacon drippings. Bacon is another rare treat and i don't save the drippings. I remember though that my mom always had a can of drippings to use. That sounds so unsafe to me now.

10252 I wish you MUCH luck! A good stable, family and the example of a good marriage may just do the trick. My thoughts are with you.

10252 I really like You've Got Mail, but I did put The Shop Around the Corner on my Netflix list.

10252 Alias, I think Gina will be back too, but still think she was smart to take a break. I would never hang with those women.

10252 You know, I felt sorry for Gretchen for a long time, but really, Slade??? Have some self-respect.

I can't stand Tamra. I think she's one of the nastiest people I've ever seen, and Vicki runs a close second. Vicki is so controlling. I think Gina was smart to get out of there!

10252 I really like The Family Stone too. It's a LOL movie, and also one that will make you cry. Lots of fun!

10252 Deborah, I didn't know there was an email system with GR either until Alias told me. Still lots to learn I guess.

10252 Thanks Connie. As usual, I'm on the way over to Amazon after reading your reviews.

For some reason I was thinking about our monthly discussion picks this morning. I've been disappointed and concerned that we don't seem to be able to get discussions going lately. Maybe that's just my perception and if so, I hope I'm wrong. If we try nominations again, I'll nominate Passing.

10252 I saw Love Actually in the theater and thought it was a lot of fun. My favorite story line was the wedding couple/best friend story line. I thought it was so romantic.
