10252 Bobbie.. Richard Burton.. how wonderful.

Deb.. That's a great story about your DH playing Lancelot.

Joann.. Robert Goulet... Thrilling is the right word. I was so sad when he died. I always, always wanted to see him sing live.

10252 I haven't finished the book so I'm going to wait to read a lot of these posts. Remember Spoilers when posting.

10252 Donna... Diners, drive ins & Dives is coming to Columbia. But... they are doing a meat and 3 veggies.
I wish they were doing something different but will have to look for that episode. They are interviewing places now.

10252 No big deal at all Kim!! We're all learning. And so what if there are 2 theads. It's an easy fix.
ANYWAY.. back to PR. ha ha
Right after I posted earlier I found the rerun on LT.
It was half way through and they were doing the RUNWAY. I did not like the winning dress either. And I thought Epperson's wasn't that bad.
I didn't get why they would mix Avante Garde with surf wear? Wasn't it surfwear? I didn't get that either. Then I thought the Avante Garde was supposed to mesh with the surf wear but they were all totally different. I think PR complicated the whole thing.

I hope it runs again and I can watch it in full.
Mitchell needed to go and lucky for Epperson and Quistal or whatever her name is...

I can't believe Mitchell did nothing. He needs to consider a new career IMO.

10252 The first two chapters of Tender at the Bone feature the culinary shortcomings of Ruth Reichl’s relatives, particularly her mother. To what do you attribute prowess in the kitchen? Is the ability (or inability) to cook a reflection of other traits? Who are the most notorious cooks in your

At our tailgate party Thursday night a woman told me that I was such a good cook. I had to giggle. I've learned how to put things together for parties and I do try new recipes. But at the same time when I'm searching for recipes I throw anything out with too many ingredients or odd ingredients that I'd have to search for in the store. I do wish I was a better cook. Like Kate I thought my Mom was a great cook. Then my brother complained one day that she cooked the same 7 meals over and over. HA!! What got me about that was she cooked for him more than anyone.
I loved my Mom's stuffing (she stuffed the Turkey). She also made a beef and potato pie that I loved. We had roast every Sunday; usually had mashed potato's; and salad or green beans. I loved her pork chops too and I think all she did was broil them. And her spaghetti was delicious.
Then every once in awhile she would make her Mom's homemade bread and sticky buns. Now that was the bomb. We loved those days.
I don't think she used a lot of spices and we never had ethnic food or spicy/hot food.
What I hate most is when I follow a recipe; spend the money; take the time and it doesn't really taste all that good. AHHHH... What a disappointment.
Now the other day I made something that came out really good and it was pretty much made-up. I thought I had a jar of spaghetti sauce. I cut up an onion; red pepper and portabello mushrooms in the crock pot. I laid boneless/skinless chicken breasts across that.. Then I reached for the spaghetti sauce and it was SALSA. HA!! I figured what the heck.. its really the same thing. So I dumped the SALSA over the chicken and cooked it for 7 hours. I served it to BF over rice and had mine without rice. It was so good. HA HA

10252 I'm going to try the weiner schitzel. I googled the recipe and it is the same online. (just to be sure).
I never thought about making WS. My bf is German and we don't have any German restaurants close anymore. When I read the recipe I thought OMG that is so simple. I could do that... with some German Potato Salad. It's be a nice surprise for him.

Donna.. you should SERIOUSLY think about writing a book. It could be therauptic in many ways. That story you shared causes so many emotions. Not only that your father turned to you at that time but at that age. 13 was the worst age ever with no additional issues in life. Then to go through what you did.. I can't begin to imagine. I want you to take the time to sit down ane picture yourself in 8th grade and now as an adult I want you to give her a huge hug. You both need it.

Bobbie.. I also live to eat. HA!! And although I wish I didn't at times because it causes me to overeat so much I also couldn't imagine not having the pleasure that some foods and meals have to offer.
So my perfect world would be to LIVE TO EAT but with complete control. :-)

10252 WOW, we had a perfect Saturday. We were out on the boat by noon. (which is good for us).. lol It ws 83 degrees here. Beautiful. We had a good friend of mine with us and stopped by an old co-workers house who lives on the lake. Had a wonderful visit. Took a dip in the lake and cruised around some more.
Then we docked for dinner at a restaurant on the lake. There were boats docked all around and everyone was so nice. We had my dog which always gets so much attention from people.
The restaurant has outside seating with a huge deck and live music. The band was great. People were dancing and it was completely entertaining.
We got back on the boat, turned on the radio and sang along with 70's songs. lol
It was a full moon and the lake was perfect. We cruised around until 11 pm.
Donna as we were cruising and singing and rooting the moon on to break through the cover clouds I thought WOW, Donna & Paul would LOVE this... we'll have to do it when you come to visit. A definite boat cruise on the lake. :-)

10252 I didn't realize I missed PR this week. It's on Thursdays, right? So I was at the tailgate party for our first game. Will have to see if its recorded. Hope I didn't delete it without realizing it was there.
Without even seeing the show I'm not surprised Mitchell went home. lol
JAN.. you haven't missed that much. Only a few have left. This is only week 3 I think. So you can catch up and get to know the ones that count.
Do you think the model show is taking away from PR in some way? Just a thought. I find it a little drab. But that could all change.
Yes, you do need to remember to check VIEW ALL. I've almost started a TITLE thinking it was there before and then realized without NEW posts in it it won't show up.

10252 LESLIE... OMG.. were you at the ALA game? What a 4th quarter. I know no one was sitting down in the stadium. Ya'll are going to KILL us. BF said to me "are you sure you want to go to ALA". I told him I know, I know.. I'm prepared for the beating. :-) And, he's never been to ALA so he'll get to add a state to his adventures.
AND GA lost. That was a surprise but... it's only more bad news for us. They will really want a win for their 2nd game. Oh, lucky us. lol

10252 DEB.. lol lol The chowderheads. HA!! I agree, I like the chowder guy. I hope he gets to stick around a while longer.

Have you noticed that these people who do the extra dish usually fail. Ashleys (?) extra dish flopped too. And why didn't Michael just work with his partner if that was the plan. I'm not sure why that slab of bacon wrapped in lettuce was so good though. And I agree the shirmp salad didn't seem to go with it.
WHAT about the quick fire this week being an elimination. Oh no!! I hope someone good isn't eliminated due to a quick fire. That will be stressful for them.
Sep 03, 2009 10:28PM

10252 Deb.. If I saw mold on bread I would throw those pieces away and use the other bread in the loaf. Then I read that by the time you see "green" mold there is already white mold. And if a loaf of bread has mold then you should throw it all away or you'll be eating white mold. YUCK!! I toss it all now.

Yeah, you can't help but laugh at somethings this mother does. But I'm only up to the part where everyone got sick from the son's engagement party.

As for Julia Childs she always down played her OSS role. I've heard different stories. She is in the SPY MUSEUM in DC.

The library notified me that Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was ready for me. I had to cancel the request. I reserve it again later. That was quick.. I was 22 on the list when I reserved it. Hopefully that a sign that its a good book and people are reading it quickly. lol

10252 OH Kate.. I'd hate for Natalie to win. I'd much rather see Kevin win if it came down to the two of them.
I'm not giving up on Jeff yet. WIN THE POV Jeff!!

PLEASE!! lol But my life goes on no matter who wins BB!!!

Anybody have some good low cal chicken recipes? No dairy, no cheese, etc...

10252 WELL, Kevin did what he needs to do to win the money.
Ya can't blame him for it. But it would have been nice if he had kept his word.. although I didn't expect him to keep it.
I can only WISH that Jeff wins the POV. I hope beyond hope that he does. Because I am not sure they are going to vote Michelle out. It could happen but..

Nancy.. I'm not sure what kind of background Jordan comes from or what area in NC she is from. But I gather she is from a poor household since their home was forclosed on. There are people all over this country that have never left their hometown. And I'm not sure it pertains to Jordan but I do know there is a large southern popultion that doesn't play cards. When we moved here I was shocked. I grew up playing cards with my family. Many southern baptist look at cards as a form of gambling.
NOW please note.. I'm not saying everyone is like this; but there are many.

10252 My goodness Lois, that sounds like an episode of the Rich & Famous. :-) How exciting for your dd. Talk about a fairy tale wedding and life.

I'm glad you enjoyed the play. There's nothing like a great entertaining live show. How wonderful for your friends dd.

I need to find some time to READ now. I really want to read along with our Sept read. At the same time I'm hoping I don't get our NOV read too early. It's droped from 22 to 11 on the waiting list.
