Did you like "Garden Spells"? Have you read "The Sugar Queen" too?

Garden Spells was the first book of hers for me. I am sure I will read her others. This book reminded me of Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman.
10168 I finished Buffalo Valley by Debbie Macomber last night. A satisfying end to a delightful series.

I haven't decided yet what I will read next.

A Yellow Raft In Blue Water by Michael Dorris
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory
Homicide In Hardcover by Kate Carlisle
10168 Finished up Homicide In Hardcover by Kate Carlisle this morning. I would categorize it in the cozy mystery genre. I rated it a 3 out of 5 stars. It was okay for what it was.

Next up for me will be Buffalo Valley by Debbie Macomber. This book will finish up the Dakota series by her that I have been reading this year.

10168 Saying Hello! It's been awhile since I posted.

Looking over my shelves of books I have picked Stones From The River by Ursula Hegi next.

10168 <The Well, and the Mine - Gin Phillips. This fairly short book was a slow read for me. Set in rural Alabama in 1931 it starts out with the mystery of who threw a dead baby in the Moore family's well, but after that it just becomes a kind of set piece on being poor in the South during the Great Depression. All the characters were upstanding, decent, hardworking and honest but I still didn't like them that much, and no comments, please, about the possibility that I just can't relate to such good people! <g> My F2F group members like this one a lot more than I did. Connie, I read this book earlier this year. For me it was special as my mother was born and raised in the town the story is set in. I kept expecting to read the names of my grandparents.
10168 I am in the midst of reading one of the C.S. Lewis Narnia books. The one I am reading is The Dawn Treader. In this one the youngest two children are off on a voyage with Prince Caspian looking for unknown lands

I did not like it as much as I hoped I would. The story of Rosemary and her leaving Tasmania for NYC and making a life there I liked. Towards the middle it got bogged down for me.
10168 I just finished Hot Six by Janet Evanovich this morning. Another one that I enjoyed. I was laughing so hard last night while reading it I could barely continue on.

Next up for me is Dakota Home by Debbie Macomber.
