Seriously, I do look forward to the trips - definite downtime with my kindle and ipod - no excuses needed. Still, anyone want to buy a house? ;-)

Sounds like another to be added to my TBR. I love historical fiction which is well delineated in terms of what is true. Thanks for the recommendation.
I never heard of a GPS for a suitcase either - what a great idea!! We also cross-pack, even though I dislike sharing a suitcase with DH who is good at just throwing things in my my neatly packed areas. A missing suitcase or 2 was enough to motivate me to bear the mess.

Sorry about that, Marcy. Guess you don't live on the east coast!

Until we sell our house in Florida, we go back and forth between Florida and California. Lots of good reading time on airplanes!

Nice guy.JoAnn - I read No Mercy back in July because I did remember John Gilstrap as a old-time poster. Wonder if he has made it to any GR boards?!
I agree about Turow. Presumed Innocent was excellent!Lee Child has also been erratic of late, but I still love Reacher.

Hopefully, a busy holiday month will keep your mind on other things.

In case you're not already familiar with it, the website ravelry.com is a great place to get patterns, share ideas and get help. One of my daughters is an avid fan.

Glad you were able to knit. Thanks for the info. I'll ask my doctor if she thinks it is for me when I see her next.

Just saw this, JoAnn and was wondering how this is working for you. I also have arthritic thumbs. I dislike the stomach effects of the ingested pills

Yay! A new Berg and Lamott in April! What a treat.

Thanks you for posting this, Donna. My son-in-law is usually the designated gravy maker in my family and I believe he has made his gravy just this way. He mostly does it last minute though, and I think this year we will switch to do-ahead!

I use an I-Trip Auto converter which plugs into the cig. lighter. Works fine as long as the area isn't dense with fm stations in the 81.0-89.0 range. I think there are other more expensive options if there is too much interference. My little Prius in Ca.is set to play Ipods with just a cable.

Oh, Marcy, this sounds nice. Do your daughters live nearby?
One daughter lives nearby and the other flies in from Denver, usually coming in a day or two before for the preparations. She sends me a grocery list beforehand so that I can get all but the last-minute grocery shopping done way in advance.
Having Charlie there this year will start a whole new tradition for you, Joann. Our photos of the growing grandchildren at the Thanksgiving table mark many memories for us. My 3 yr old grandson screamed throughout his 1st appearance (colic?) and I cheerfully went and rocked him in the other room while others had dinner since we weren't living near them at the time and having him to myself was a rare treat.
JoAnn/QuAppelle wrote: Can you listen to a bit of the book before downloading it?
Audible.com does let you listen to a small sample - enough to know if the reader is going to annoy or not. I just downloaded the audio for Wolf Hall - 24 hrs. long! Now I guess I need to plan some road trips.
I have Nine Dragons in my soon-to-read pile and am looking forward to it.
