I see you're going with Otis' original suggestion. Just saw the little girl briefly a few minutes ago. *thumbs up*
Thanks for pointing that out, Charity. And, yes, I think an average for the group would be very helpful.
I'm getting the message element search_query_2 could not be found! when adding books to my shelves. The books seem to add fine. I just go back and refresh the book page. Happened twice so far.
But the problem is, there's YA and YA-books and young-adult and teen, because of the differences people use in shelving. Not to mention adult books being re-marketed for teens. So a book I consider "not-YA" may be considered YA by the next person.
Personally, I'd be pretty insulted if I had an invitation revoked. And I rarely respond to new group invitations right away.
Arch wrote: "I believe it doesn't matter what email provider a person is with, eventually, everyone will have this problem."Nope. Never had a problem in almost two years of being on Goodreads. I'd recommend my email service, but it's tied to a regional ISP.
Moderatrix Lori wrote: "Currently when you reply to a post, it quotes the first part of that post. Sometimes I want to quote something further down in the post and have to copy what I want and then replace what has been ..."If it's technically feasible, I'd love that feature. I would use it frequently.
No, not a widget. The widgets don't work well with LiveJournal. Nothing with Javascript. The "my blogs" feature creates straight html. It gives you a picture of the book, the title, author, and rating (all with links to Goodreads) and the review.
I want what amounts to a index post for all those individual entries. Listing all the titles, authors, and ratings again. In a list or in a table.
It's something that is easy enough to do manually, but time consuming and easy to mess up. Plus, if you want to do it repeatedly, it's a lot easier to automate the process.
I use the "blog it" feature fairly regularly to crosspost my reviews to my journal. But now that the year is ending, I find myself wanting to list all the books I've read this year with links back to Goodreads.
What I'd really love is a "blog it" that pulls the titles, authors, and ratings (with links) for a whole shelf (hopefully in the order listed).
The end of the year wrap-up isn't the only potential use. You could do any sort of "best of" list, just by gathering the books on a shelf.
No idea how easy this would be to program, but it would save a lot of hand coding html work.
Thanks for considering it.
♥Tricia♥ wrote: "Oh the lists feature on facebook is amazing. You can put your friends in different lists.. and then view each list separately instead of the normal status updates."With respect to Facebook ... Where do you find these things? The only place I see friends lists is under chat?
Never mind. Found it. Still think they hide stuff over there.
Otis wrote: "Interesting idea. Do you think friend lists (like Facebook has) would solve this?"Hard to say. I never noticed Facebook had such a feature. Personally, I find Facebook awkward to use and navigate.
I've always had the menus hang if you mouse over them wrong. Just passing the mouse over them again usually gets them to drop away.
Is there a minimum time you should wait before pestering the giveaway lister? I won one back on 11/15, so it's almost been a month. Granted it's the holidays and mail can be slow.Hmmm, the book doesn't actually come out till 02/02/2010. So I guess it's possible that they won't ship the giveaway books till then. No indication whether they were talking about the regular release or an ARC.
I love the idea of a private notes field attached to usernames. Personally, I'd like to see it apply to everyone, not just friends. For instance, I'd like a note attached to people I've banned to explain why I banned them. LiveJournal has such a feature and I find it very helpful, both with friends and people I am in the same communities with.
