I'm so excited to see this! I'm going to go play with it right now. And I agree with Michael's #2 above about showing negative intersections as well. (Does it seem like we're never happy but always ask for more when you give us something new?) :) Edit: Seems to work great! I like it a lot. I especially like that it shows you at the top of the page how many books there are in your current intersection. I can see now that I need to be more diligent in adding shelves when I add books to my TBR list. I usually add shelves when I'm posting my review and moving from currently-reading to read. If I add shelves when I first add the book, this will be a great tool for filtering my TBR and helping to decide what to read next!
I was just coming to report this! I thought maybe there had been some limit imposed on searches on the "my books" page - which I was hoping wasn't the case! I love being able to go to "my books" and see all the books I've read by a certain author using the search. Today I wanted to see which Terry Pratchett books I've read. I typed "Pratchett" in the search field on the "my books" page and only two books came up. I knew that wasn't right because it didn't list the two books by him that I've most recently read and reviewed. So I sorted by author and found the eight Pratchett books on my list. Not a lot compared to what he's written, but more than two! I tested this with a few other authors and all but one came up short using the "my books" search. I'm glad the issue is known and being worked on. Thanks!!
I vote for narrator as well. I feel like I'm the reader, even when it's an audio book and I'm listening to it. :)
mlady_rebecca wrote: "Yes, I vote for that version. I want the emails to match my feed..."That's what I would like as well. I also like LJ's request as an option for what to see in the emails:
LJ wrote: "For me, I should love to only see people's reviews; not the books they are adding to their TBR shelves, nor those books they only rate by stars, but their reviews."
Shanon wrote: "It would also be very neat to exclude my own rated books so I can get a quick list of books my friends have loved that I have yet to read."I would love that! The new "popular books" tab on the friends page is great, but being able to filter out books I've rated would make the list generated just that much better.
There are probably as many reasons to vote for reviews as there are people on GR. I often read reviews for a book just after I've finished reading it and have written my review. I'm curious to see how my views match with others here - including those who are not my friends. I sometimes find a review that says exactly what I meant to say only much, much better. I always vote for those reviews.
Ditto what Isis said. I keep the release date in the Private Notes field and then go in and maintain my list once a month or so - moving books off of my "not-yet-released" shelf as they are published and adding new ones as I find out about them.
I sometimes look at my to-read shelf by date added to see which books have been there the longest that I haven't gotten to yet. Of course I look at many of my shelves by date read even more often. So I'm glad we have both dates as an option for sorting shelves, etc.
We can go to additional pages on award lists now! Thanks, Michael! Now it will be much easier to clean up some of the lists.
That would be very cool, Otis! Sometimes I don't have a topic I want to mark as "important" but I don't want the folder to go away after 30 days, either.
Wow, thanks, Michael! I'm still seeing only the top 30, but I look forward to seeing ALL winners on a list. I didn't even dare to ask for that!
Although as a moderator you can force the folder to remain visible all the time by marking one of the threads as important.

Personally, I'd much rather see the full list of winners th..."Great new feature!! I agree with Not The Michael, though. We need to be able to see all the winners for each award - even if it has to be broken up into pages of 30 books each.
I haven't disliked them enough to say anything, but they aren't my favorite. It's mildly annoying to read the first half of a book description, click "more," and then have the entire description pop up in a box where you then have to skim through and find your place to read the rest. The boxes that pop up in the Notes section of the My Books page when you are in the Review view are even more annoying. The box forces the screen to stretch past the edge of the screen and then you have to scroll over before you can close the box.
I wouldn't be sad if the pop-up boxes went away and every "more" link expanded the text just like many of them do now.
