1 Thank you, Otis. I noticed that I'm not getting the errors anymore.

1 I agree with Tricia. I noticed the problem with the back button. It's happened whenever I've used the back button to the home page, regardless of what page I was coming from (e.g. review, group discussion, etc.).

Otis, what kind of screen shot do you want? Just the screen where I'm getting the error message or the screen before I hit the back button and the error page?

1 My point was about those reviews that are irrelevant to the conversation that follows them. I guess I don't access those by clicking on "more" on the review, I do it by clicking on the interesting comment I saw in the news feed. But I think the sentiment still applies. If people like the review, some proportion of them will vote for it. I'm not sure the number of people who have read it is useful statistic. Rose, feel free to convince me otherwise.

1 I click "more" to get to the comments page. Sometimes I don't really like the review but the comments are amazing. I wouldn't want "more" being counted towards a vote.

1 David, please let me know when you write, Twiglet the Vampire, I promise I'll review it. (I'm crying that was so funny).

1 I vote too, but I think we're in the minority. :-( I agree with ...Michael... though, there isn't a way to really count people who read the reviews from main pages, e-mail feeds, etc. The most reliable way to see if people like the review is the voting. Rose, you should get your friends to get out the vote!

1 This is a great suggestion, Paul. I've mostly given up on the e-mails for this very reason. I know I'm missing reviews, which makes me sad, but it is often to hard to get through the to-read lists.
1 Nice to have it back. Thank you, Otis. I look forward to the new things for quotes. :-)

1 Abigail, I think your original question, about the ability of the GR staff to edit without alerting the author, is an excellent one. I look forward to the answer.

1 And oh, I've been trying to add just my birth year ..." in message 769 -

Great idea, Alex! Yes, I would love to have the option to only show the Year if I don't fill in the day and month. This would be particularly useful for Author's birth and death. Usually I only know the year; that's all the information I have from the publisher's site.

1 I'd really like the progess comment space to be longer as well. It's too short even for a couple of long sentences (not Virginia Woolf long, just normal person long). I'd like to be able to write a couple of sentences and perhaps add a quote from the book as well.

1 It looks like a browser issue. I'm using Safari on a Mac and I'm not having any trouble with it.

1 Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to this. I was on the book page (my review). It may have been an IE thing because I've done it since with Safari and it didn't hang at all.

1 Thank you for the progress section. I wasn't so much excited about the bar but about having the ability to add comments on the book as I was reading it (especially with some of the very long books I read).

I tried putting in a comment today without the page number, since I rarely look at that or care about them, and the feature just kept spinning/hanging.

I know it's brand new but would you please add an enhancement to allow for comments without a page number and, or allow for text in the page number section? I'd like to say "just started" rather than page 28...

Thank you again for adding this, I think it will be a lot of fun.

1 I'd like to add support for "ignore" as well. I've gotten "events" from authors about receiving their news letters or attending book signings that are not even geographically close to me.

Otis, I'd agree with you about the RSVP if everyone was using events the way I think you intended them. Since they're not, I'd like to be able to ignore those.

Thanks!

1 I like the last active this month setting the way it is. I wouldn't want something in my profile announcing that I had been on line in the last hour or few hours.
Sep 25, 2008 05:06PM

1 Yes, Otis, the "comment" does take you to the review page. I wasn't very clear. My steps would be first to click the "more" link, then the comment, to get to the review (two steps). So, renaming the comment link would make it obvious that I could cut out a step, as would changing the "more" link. Either works and, obviously, whatever is easiest for you all is preferred. :-)

Best,
Elizabeth

1 I'm so glad someone else asked about this, because I probably "like reviews" more than anything else I do on Goodreads (other than add books).

I completely understand the hit to the homepage. It's got a lot going on already. What if the "Add a comment" link was modified to take you to the review? Something like, "Like this review?" and it would take you to the review and either let you click on the review to rate it or add a comment. It doesn't add any more steps to adding a comment and gives more direction about liking a review. Personally, I like more reviews than I want to comment on.

Another option would have "more" simply bring you to the review page, and then you could do whatever you wanted there.

Just some thoughts.

1 Otis, is it possible to add a search tips link or line under the search box so people can get a list of special characters that work and other search tips? I know I've struggled with it sometimes.

1 I added last week and it worked fine. I was using Safari for Mac. Maybe it's not working on all browers yet?
