I've been getting these messages too. Not finding it too annoying, though, since it seems everything else is fine. ^^
So if I am understanding correctly, there could be discussions not public (as opposed to the whole group having to be private).I like that idea, there are some discussions that are of a more personal nature in one of my groups-what people are dealing with-that I've been wanting to make private/for group members only but of course to do that I would have to make the entire group private, which I don't want to do.

Long story short, love the customizations ideas. :D
Is back again.

It isn't an author account, so I'm wondering if you banned him before? (And if so could you please ban him again?) He never actually participates and joins pretty much any and every group just to spam about his book (like Chicks on Lit). Pretty short group list right now but seems he didn't re-join that long ago.
He's spammed Writing Passionates six or seven times now--after a couple rather creepy replies the third time, I think it was, and then deleting himself and promising not to return, though he returned anyhow.
I do get that error message sometimes, but that time there was no error message, that's what made it so strange. I just kept being taken straight to my homepage after making a comment anywhere, I couldn't delete anything or edit anything except a topic name ... it was just weird. But it's gone.
I'm using Firefox ... I'll try restarting my computer but I dunno if that'll work. Then again, seeing as my computer is really old and the internet connection isn't so great, it could be anything.
EDIT: It appears the glitch is gone now--or fixed. :D ^-^
It didn't go to my homepage when I posted this comment, and I was able to edit it.
I see this every once and a while, but I try to ignore it. I figured it just happens ... but I've been getting some other bugs/problems as well today.
Everything seemed to be just fine ... until I posted something.
1) As someone else mentioned, new comments are not always marked as new.
2) I am a moderator of a group and delete off-topic or doubled/tripled comments. I can't delete them, it just takes me to the top of the page.
3) When I made a comment, it took me to my homepage so I thought it didn't post, went 'back one page' and clicked post comment again, returned me to the homepage, went to groups and it was posted twice. Still can't delete.
If it were possible to have chat, I'd feel better if it was only in groups and as in some chats (like game chats or whatever) certain words and phrases were blocked-just in case. Otherwise, I'm okay without chat.
I actually visit one of my (or anyone else's) stories. When I click on "more of my writing" and see like 5 stories on a page or whatever, it doesn't show how many people reviewed each chapter of each poem/story anymore. Until I actually click on a poem or story.
It wasn't like this before ... I could just look through the pages to see if there were any more reviews.
's it a bug?
Thanks Otis & Co.! :DGoodreads is amazing, indeed. So many books on my TBR list now, good book discussions, new friends ...
and a great book club called TNBBC. ;)
I just had that too ... well, not exactly but yeah, the 503 error thing. Goodreads came back, thank goodness. It's been happening a couple days though.
I still don't think I'm hollow though, and I don't think I was cheating. I just typed before I thought and that doesn't happen all that often. If it helps, when I finally get my books published or art sold and become as famous as Tolkien or Rowling, I'll give you guys a ton of money and then you won't have to run ads and everyone will be happy. ^_^
Eh tartar sauce. Somebody was like 'aaah too many ads' when referring to Goodreads so I was an idiot and said 'just get adblocker' not thinking about it (because whenever I hear that complaint I automatically type that because, well, adblocker works) and not thinking about how you guys are supported by ads and then somebody asked if it wasn't rather hollow of me and if I didn't consider it cheating ... sorry Goodreads. :(
