Also, would you consider putting out a "broadcast" on the RSS feed when you are planning to take down the site. For some reason it always happens when I'm online and in the middle of a major post I spent an hour working on without saving, of course, because why would I do that and show myself smart? Anyway, not as pressing as the other, but it would be helpful as well. I guess this doesn't go in the "bugs" section, though. I'm sorry.I just want to again say that you guys so totally ROCK. Thanks for everything!
Hiya... the edit group bookshelf function is not functioning right now. I click on "edit shelves" and it comes up with the page title and blank for the rest of the page. I am a moderator, too, in case that has to do with it.
Also, when editing a thread - changing it's folder for instance - it shoot me out to the "groups" page, with the listing of all of them, and gives me a "sorry we can't find that group" type of message. You might have it shoot us back to the previous page with the listing of all the threads or at least to the groups homepage. Just a thought.
Hey, I just tried to reorder my to-read shelf, and the ones I left blank are the ones that are visible on the shelf now, whereas the ones I thought would be reordered are nowhere to be found. Could you please explain this to me? How the heck do I fix it? (I tried going back and saving it that way to no avail... ergh!) I'll keep working on it, but would appreciate the help!
Over in the Rory Gilmore Book Club we are having some crazy glitches occurring all over the place...
First, when opening some threads, they say they are showing "0-40" posts but everything below that is blank. If you click "date" they will be visible again, but why exactly are they not showing in the first place? And why would the zero in the count need to be shown? How about starting with "1?"
Second, when opening other threads listing with the most recent on top (clicking "date" once in another thread), it takes us to the end of the first page, not the end of the thread. It's very strange because you end up somewhere in the middle of the thread.
Could you help us out?? It seems to be spreading, too, by the way. It started with only one thread, but is now rampant. Thanks so much!
Thank you for the information and link, Lisa. I thought the librarian group was for real librarians! What a goof! I did apply to become a librarian, and am using the link to get things in order. Again, thank you so much! It's miraculous.
Hey, I was wondering if you could make a way for us to add books without ISBN numbers (or ones with unrecognized ISBN numbers) to our specific shelves? In other words, I'm speaking of the books not found in your databank of titles.
For instance, I have antique books by an author for which you have many books listed, but not the few I have. Or I have books from other countries that don't show up. Or those books that we might own that are self-published, etc. Could you like add a "personal book" option so that we can add them ourselves, but they wouldn't have to go into the major databank of books?
Or even just have a notebook-type page where we could list these books... just a thought.
Hi again. I hate being the bearer of bad news, but it's still not sorting properly in our group. People are frustrated because the topics most recently commented on are not rising to the top... as a moderator I'm hearing about it. But to end on a good note, I love all that you've done to improve the group pages! Fantastic changes!
I was a little worried when the "general" folders disappeared all together, but I figured you'd work it all out eventually. I mean you ARE Otis!
One question... How do we delete a created folder? Thanks!
............
Um, I was going to add something in the "bugs" section, but I see now they were all moved to this folder, so I'll just add that the "sticky" feature of having a folder stay at the top is currently not working.
Thanks again.
Lisa, I figured it out...As a moderator, go into the "general" folder. You will see little light gray "e's" next to the topics (at the far right). Hit that, then click on "add folder." You will have to add each thread to the specific folder individually.
As a warning, they have some kind of glitch so that if you decided to add a folder or edit topic locations inside the thread, you will get kicked back to your homepage after you save it... but it DOES work, and if you do change them the way I suggested, that won't happen.
Cheers!
I see on this Goodreads Feedback group that you have made folders, but I can't figure out how to do make them for my group. Could someone please help me out?
That was what I was wanting... why I made the request. Anyway, what news, Otis? It's past the time frame you gave, so I thought I'd inquire.
There are 198 people in my group to date, so not really feasible to add them all. It'd just be great to have on the main page where you have the last 12 online if you could have the little red listing for if they are currently online.I was thinking of this feature because we want to have "live" chats. Having this feature - at least for moderators - would help facilitate this. Thanks for looking into it.
Hmmm... is there any way to show who is online within a group? Of not for all, then for the moderators? It'd be helpful!
Thanks for considering, Otis. Oh, and I hated to ask before my other request is done so as not to overload, but I was afraid I'd forget!
I could KISS you, Otis! Sorry... did I say that out loud? ;) Thanks a million, Otis! As always, YOU ROCK.
Hi Otis...Any news? You could give it to me for Christmas if you like...
I echo Ruth's comments, "This is such a great site. I love that you're so available to us, and open to suggestion." You really are fantastic and I do love this site (I'm a bit addicted, actually!).
Thanks, mate!
Cheers,
Michele
