Rivka, what's the source of information for your claims in #2 above?
*not often reflected in casual use
*they are used interchangeably
*more people are familiar with the word "slanderous"
than the word "defamatory".
None of that matches my experience (anecdotal). Do you have a source for those?
As for the flags, how about using the word "abusive" instead?
I forgot to mention NoveList already has something like this, but it is a commercial product owned by Ebsco.
There are literary prize lists all over the place on the web already. A Literary Award Database, on the other hand, would be a very nice thing to use.
Otis, I think you should make an exception for Tibet. There is a large body of literature specifically from and about Tibet, and the distinction is so major, that it needs an accurate reflection of that.
The Library of Congress Subject Headings makes a concession by giving this heading:
"Tibet (China)"
Many books were published in Tibet prior to the Chinese occupation. It should be an option.
I was looking at the poll for things most desired at GoodReads where the clear leader was "Find people with similar reading tastes." Is this going to be implemented?
If you don't like political polls, don't participate in them. No one is forcing you to read them. Obviously other people do enjoy them.
I am experiencing the same problem. I vote on a book; it gets 0.0 value, then later it disappears altogether.
I have a friend with zero books and zero ratings, yet the test claims he's rated several books in several different ways, and that we have a compatibility of 13%.
Similarly, it would be nice to search the various fields presented for each book. For example, there are fields for "character," "setting," "postal code," "book description," etc. Are these fields searchable?
