1 Otis, I totally dig it! :)

1 AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

:)

This is SO COOL! You should see the huge grin on my face! Like mlady_rebecca said, new toy!! This is the best early Christmas present ever!! :)

1 I've also wanted some way to see what, exactly, is sent out to my friends. I obviously wouldn't want it lumped in with the e-mail I get of my friends' updates, but a separate e-mail. I like Ann's idea of using it as a back-up, but I'd definitely want it as an example of what my friends are getting from me (without having to set up a dummy account).
1 Thanks, rivka! I'm with everyone else --

1) Noticed the "default description" yesterday while looking at a book, and wondered "Is that new? Do I remember seeing it before?"

2) After reading this, was really glad that I didn't combine the book I was going to combine yesterday.

3) Great use of the broadcast!

4) Will hold off on combining the aforementioned book until I hear it's clear.

5) I was also going to request that you let us know when it's safe again. Please do! Thanks!

:)

1 Yay! Thank you!!!

I just checked and I see the digests from (I think) 5/16, 5/17, and 5/18, and my friends updates from 5/17.

Woohoo!! Thank you!!! This is why we love Goodreads :)

1 Thanks, Otis.

Rivka sent me 2 messages today, and I miraculously received the notification in my e-mail that I had messages in my GR inbox. So it's strange that I received those, but not the normal updates.

Still, I filled out the form, too. Now my fingers are crossed that I'll start getting my updates again!

1 Hi, all.

I haven't received a digest or friends update since the middle of last week. I did some perusing of the group, and I don't see any other posts about this happening to anyone else. Am I the only one?

I have checked to see if my e-mail address needed to be verified, but I don't see anything jumping out, saying "VERIFY ME!!!" (By the way, where would I see it? I'm guessing there should be something near my e-mail address in my account settings.) The mailings also aren't getting sent to my Spam folder.

Help? Anyone else having troubles? I miss my Goodreads updates :(
Ads with sound (19 new)

1 I've had two tonight that had sound. I'm using Safari *and* my volume is VERY low.

(Sorry, I have no examples at the moment)
friend requests (15 new)

1 Like Lisa, I send a message *with* the friend request, but I guess I can send them separately also.
friend requests (15 new)
Apr 02, 2009 05:11PM

1 I'm going to show my support for this idea again. I apparently became friends with someone today, and I don't remember ever asking to be her friend. Pleeeeeeaaaaase, Goodreads! Give us a way to see the friend requests we've made! Like a little Friend Request Outbox, or something.

1 I really like #1 and #3. #1 is actually something I've thought about in the past -- mostly just that it would be nice to be able to follow things I've recommended. I recommended this book to a friend; did s/he add it? read it? finish it? like it?

And #3 just makes A WHOLE LOT OF SENSE. I dig it!!

1 I would donate money to Goodreads! Ooh, ooh! *raises hand wildly* I would donate!

Even if you still have the ads ... I figure you guys are so amazing, and this site is a godsend... I'd have no problem giving you big bucks to help keep things going.

I like Heather's idea. Not only does it ensure (as best one can) that new librarians know what's going on and what to do/not do, but it would also be a handy reference if they have any questions while editing books.
1 I have no good reason to also want the option to hide events I'm attending, but it is an option I'd like to have (if, as Lisa said, it shows up even if the box is unchecked).
1 I, too, get annoyed with that little box automatically coming up. Like Brooke said (#4), there was a time when that box didn't come up. When you hover over the "add to my books" box, the three default shelves show. There was a time when you could just click on one of those, and not get the pop-up box. Alternately, if you clicked on the "add to my books" box itself, then you'd get the extra stuff (review box, date read, etc.) if you wanted it.

Now, even if I'm just putting a book on my to-read shelf, and have no notes or anything to add, I still have to go through that extra step with the box. Silly extra step -- I can live with it, but it's annoying.

Ooh, ooh! Me, too! I've always wondered if that was saved somewhere, but I was just too much of a dolt to find it. :P

1 Yay! This is something I've always wished for, but never knew if it was feasible.

As always, you guys rock!

1 Lisa --

Hmmm... Yes, your interpretation makes sense. hehe

*embarrassedly slinks away giggling*

1 Since Otis requested 5 more votes (even though I think more than 5 people have since "Aye"d), I'll put my vote in as well, since this idea has been brought up many times in various places (including by me :) ). Might we finally get this very cool filtering feature?

1 Michael/Otis --

Add my vote to the idea of a separate, "real name" field for contests. I also noticed that entering the contest changed my profile, so you guys fixing that would be way more convenient than changing my profile back every time.
