No I think when you block someone they just see your profile as private so i presume you can still friend request?
I haven't been having these problems at all. I use FF... I'm also from the UK so if it's to do with ads... I was wondering as we all get different ones. Also, a couple of days ago my Flash decided to update itself. Maybe that's a coincidence?
Yep, GR is open 99% of the time my lap top is on... which is just about all day. I love GR I can't contemplate reading a book without it.How can you read a book and not want to come online to then discuss it? No longer am I scraping around trying to find someone to talk about a book with.
Thank you so much Otis & co, all who have made GR what it is and yet to become. Happy Holidays! Can't wait to see what will be coming in the new year.

Ditto! GR has become a lifestyle website, not just some place I like visiting to catalogue my books. I mean, how many places really have such a positive effect on our lives?
I definitely need some sort of calendar or planner. Quite often it isn't 'official' group reads I'm a part of but a smaller group of us getting together to read a book. That's definitely seemingly to be a current trend with a lot of groups I'm on.I think many of us are quite geeky when it comes to our books and things!
It'd be very useful for things like events as well.
I know we have Windows Calander. I've recently dug mine up but it isn't something I'd say I would use. But I would if it was on GR. Why? Because GR is the first place I go when I come online. Because I'm never online without having GR open.
I have bbc news set as my homepage only because if I didn't I'd never know what was going on outside of who's reading what in this world!
It could be used for all sorts of things! When library books are due for instance - seeminly mundane things but perhaps useful.
Also interesting graphically to map what we're reading and when.
Maybe GR could have a special 'literary' calendar of it's own as well as personal user calendars.
You know - telling us what book award ceremonies are going on in the world, author birthdays/deathdays special literary occasions worldwide... author signing dates etc.
I found loaaaads of books on BM, lots and lots of different books in fact I found most of the books I wanted so I don't think it's fair to say they only have Dan Brown kinda books.Besides that, PBS seems much more geared towards people in the US. BM, as most internet websites are, will have more people from the US. It's not as bad in the UK but you still have to be prepared to send international as many of the books mooched tend to be international too. But that's okay. For a small paperback international it's not badly priced.
People would only thumb down all the reviews they didn't agree with rather then ones which were good or bad. So you wouldn't get an accurate portrayal of a good review or not. It happens on Amazon all the time.
I've been on FB for a while and I just find it too fussy.I might find a use for lists but I am not totally fussed.
It might be nice to have something integrated with the calender thing - a kind of organiser book? Maybe that's the same thing.
I prefer groups and I don't find myself bogged down in RP/Vampire groups much.... but then I don't really look for new groups any more as I have enough. The groups are categorised although I do think that there should be some kind of better organisation... If you want to be part of a large group like that then I recommend The Next Best Book Club.
Same here. THe only way I can see a chat working on GR is if it was something organised by group moderators open at specific times of the day where each chat could be moderated.Otherwise just get google chat, or msn or aim or whatever other service there is out there. In fact, I recommend google chat it's a very good, quick simple programme and you can have group chats too.
Yes yes! And could you do the same in the 'inbox' list of messages too - put the 'select all' and the page numbers at the top as well... it's very annoying having to scroll down then up when cleaning up my inbox!
Well, cyber-bullying should also be taken rather seriously if there is proof of it. Under age or not.
Oooh I thought something about the dates was different. I think the new format is perfect and much easier to understand for me now. Thanks Otis!Nov 07, 2009 10:06AM
It isn't back for me. Editions did return to where it used to be for me yesterday... for a while, maybe after I reset my computer after updating some things. But that find a book box is still annoyingly at the top for me.
