1 Very cool! I'm excited to see what you're rolling out. Thanks for the heads up. :)

1 Alessandra, you might find this GR blog post announcing the recommendation engine interesting.

1 Amazon either wholly owns or owns a large percentage of two of Goodreads largest competitors: Shelfari and Librarything.
1 I know a couple of mods who had problems with drive-by comments-- that someone would join the group just to leave one comment (frequently argumentative) then they would leave the group. For those mods, they found this wasn't conducive to the type of group and conversations they wanted to have. They found hiding the group posts prevented this somewhat.

Just something else to consider.

1 Excellent, thanks! I just downloaded it, and I'll give it a whirl soon.

I agree as well.
1 I'm seeing the same thing as well.

1 This sounds like a lot of fun - I'd definitely organize a death match with my GR friends. :)

1 I saw there is an unofficial Goodreads scanner app for iOS. Is that the one you're trying to use Kami? The official GR app has scanner capabilities under My Books.

1 As a fellow Zotero user, I would love this. It's pretty awesome that you did the research to find the intersecting format. What's great is then from there I could do my usual export to BibTeX.

Yeah, one of my groups has been having this problem as well. Do you think we should start a new thread?

1 Same here. If I'm just under "groups" everything looks okay. If I look at "books" I see a bunch of groups I'm not a member of mixed in with some book discussions I should see.

eta: and both shows those same wrong groups.

1 Goodreads has a very easy to access api. (The link is even at the bottom of every page.) Look at the bullet under Goodreads Connect, Cheryl.

1 We had this happen a while back in a secret group I'm in. We freaked out because there was some personal information around, and were worried people were seeing it.

We took screenshots, Goodreads investigated and said it was a glitch in the way they were counting comments - that there was no extraneous activity in the group. (or something to that effect. don't quote me.)

Which is fine, but the problem still pops up from time to time.

I hope this is the case for you, too! But it really is freaky!

1 Hahaha! I should totally put that on a shirt.

1 I remember looking up the Einstein quote (since I have a shirt with it), and it's directly attributed to Einstein in two books by Fritz Perls, Gestalt therapy verbatim and In and Out the Garbage Pail. He claims Einstein said this to him, but he slightly altered the quote in different books. Essence is the same, though.

1 Ettore - you're awesome! I'm going to go write a review right now. :) Thanks again for your hard work.

1 I agree, Cathy! And being able to access our groups via our profile page on the app has made it so much more useful to me.

I only downloaded the app a couple of months ago, and I now can't fathom how I lived without it for so long. :)

1 I'm glad you asked about this teasinme - I didn't realize we had access to our groups. Nice!

Agreed, agreed, agreed! I can't blame GR for making this decision, as it's a business/resources thing. But the least they can do is actively communicate to the whole membership.
