Rachel Mason oozes confidence. She’s outgoing, adventurous and would chop off her right arm before caring what other people think of her or her disability.
Jared Mattheson on the other hand, is more than a little goofy and a whole lot of carefree. He’s happy living the bachelor life on his father’s credit card, takes nothing seriously and wouldn’t know difficulty if it slapped him in the face.
With Emily and Dexter away in the States, Rachel and Jared are left behind to keep each other company. They share the same sense of fun, their personalities bounce off one another perfectly and perhaps inevitably, they become best friends. But what happens when the lines of friendship start to blur? How will they cope when the sides of themselves they’ve kept hidden from the world for so long begin to show?
Their journey together may have started with fun, games and alcohol – but it seems the future has other ideas.
Turns out, even the strongest of people need someone to lean on sometimes.

Maud, an aging grandmother, is slowly losing her memory--and her grip on everyday life. Notes fill her pockets and dot the walls of her home, increasingly crucial reminders of the immediate world. Most crucial is the fact that she can't find her only friend--Elizabeth has disappeared: she isn't answering the phone and doesn't seem to be at her house. Maud, convinced Elizabeth is in terrible danger, refuses to forget her even if her frustrated daughter, Helen, her carer, Carla, and the police won't listen and won't help. Armed with an overwhelming feeling that Elizabeth desperately needs her help, Maud sets out to find her. And, unexpectedly, her search triggers an old and powerful memory of another unsolved disappearance--that of her sister, Sukey, who vanished more than 50 years ago, shortly after the Second World War.
As long-ago memories emerge, Maud begins to uncover forgotten clues to her sister's disappearance and to piece together the mystery that has haunted her family for decades, discovering new momentum in her search for her friend. Could the mystery of Sukey's disappearance hold the key to finding Elizabeth? [close]Giveaway dates: Jan 21 - Mar 21, 201420 copies available, 240 people requestingCountries available: CA

The cover is beautiful and appealing, and the illustrations and colors throughout the book are adorable, heartwarming, and peaceful. Any young girl would want to snatch this book from the shelves to have as their own. I encourage parents of young girls to purchase this one for your child's library. And even if you haven't found yourself moving lately, this book can still have a positive impact on your child's self confidence.
Review from Amazon
Authors are often advised to write about things they really know. This enchanting story of a young girl in a strange place and lost in a strange language, was written by a woman who lived it, and made of that experience a wonderful tale of beauty, peace and friendship.
After you finish reading this book to your child, stop your busy life for a moment and take time for you and your child. Close your eyes and go to a special place, where everything is simple and pure. Cuddle with your child on the green grass or golden sand... stare at the beautiful blue sky... listen to the splashing waves... spin around in a blooming garden or talk to the whispering wind. Look around you and see what is important in life and to your child.

Carlo the Mouse, Book 1: Too Many Rules for One Little Mouse is, obviously, Book 1 in a new series by the very talented Mrs. D. Several of the subsequent books are already well along in the publishing process, and it is abundantly clear this series is going to be a big hit. There isn't a young child in the country - maybe in the whole world - who would not be totally captivated by the brilliant colors, the amusing illustrations, and the anxious little mouse who just wants to "get out there" and see the world.
As well done as this book is, I strongly suspect Carlo WILL see much of the world from inside Kindles all over the planet, and from the windows of bookstores the world over. Mrs. D. has an innate gift for writing stories that appeal to children. Carlo and Mrs. D. have a great future ahead of them! I very much recommend this book and this series for all the little children you know. Christmas is coming, and Carlo is packed and ready to go! Mickey had better watch out... there's a new mouse in town!
As a grown-up, I fell in love with this adorable character the moment I looked at the first illustration. I had as much pleasure reading this book as my son did. Sometimes, a sample book like this one, gives more to a child then books chosen by the school experts. Now we could hardly wait what the next book will hold. Thank you so much for making our children happy. Because of books like yours, our children will grow up happier, kinder, and smarter. Great story! Wonderful artwork! Astonishing children’s book! It would be the first time that a British monarch's letters had been published, and it would change how Victoria was remembered forever.View Details »
The men chosen for the job were deeply complex and eccentric characters. Viscount Esher was the consummate royal confidant, blessed with charm and influence, but hiding a secret obsession with Eton boys and an incestuous relationship with his son. Arthur Benson, a schoolmaster and author, suffered badly from depression, and struggled to fit in with the blue-blooded clubs and codes of the court. Together with King Edward VII these men would decide Victoria's legacy. In their hands 460 volumes of the Queen’s correspondence became just three.
Pressure was high and the editing process fraught as Benson and Esher vied for control – the strain ultimately sending Benson into a nervous breakdown. While promoting their own preconceptions about Victoria and her court, they were to silence scandal, protect the new king, and prop up the politics of the day, obscuring Victoria's role as a wife and mother in the process. Their decisions – and distortions – would influence perceptions of Victoria for generations to come.
Based on unprecedented access to the royal archives at Windsor Castle, Censoring Queen Victoria is a rare and fascinating piece of historical detective work that reveals the story behind this incredible collection. Tania Deeley has always been told that she’s a rarity: a human child in a world where most children are sophisticated androids manufactured by Oxted Corporation. When a decline in global fertility ensued, it was the creation of these near-perfect human copies called teknoids that helped to prevent the utter collapse of society.
Though she has always been aware of the existence of teknoids, it is not until her first day at The Lady Maud High School for Girls that Tania realizes that her best friend, Siân, may be one. Returning home from the summer holiday, she is shocked by how much Siân has changed. Is it possible that these changes were engineered by Oxted? And if Siân could be a teknoid, how many others in Tania’s life are not real?
Driven by the need to understand what sets teknoids apart from their human counterparts, Tania begins to seek answers. But time is running out. For everyone knows that on their eighteenth “birthdays,” teknoids must be returned to Oxted—never to be heard from again.
Told in diary format, Expiration Day is the powerful and poignant story of a young girl coming of age and discovering what it means to be truly human by a talented debut novelist. [close]Giveaway dates: Feb 21 - Mar 21, 20147 copies available, 771 people requestingCountries available: US and CA
