This book is the English edition of my German book "Reise durch das Alte Testament" (ISBN 978-3-9815308-0-3). Both books were published in January 2013. The Journey is an annotated storybook with texts from the first part of the Old Testament, the Five Books of Moses, and illustrations covering more than 2000 years of Christian and Jewish art.
It was first and foremost written for all those who always wanted to get to know the biblical texts but never really got into it. Maybe the remote language made you shrink back or the seemingly obsolete content with apparently no connection to your own life. Therefore, since understanding the texts is not self-evident, I inserted commentaries alongside the selected stories. The commentaries are based upon insights of current academic theology. And to get our children going, too, I added easy-to read explanations alongside the pictures. You’ll find more than 120 masterpieces of art in this book in beautiful print! The texts are excerpts from different Standard English translations of the Bible.
Since my plan is to give you a thorough introduction to all books of the Bible, I had to divide my bible project into several volumes. This book is volume one and contains the Five Books of Moses, the Torah. It underlines the necessity for Christians to have a sound knowledge of the Old Testament. The New is based upon the Old!
So far, I have not been able, to upload a preview of my book in epub; instead you could visit my homepage (www.bibleandart-publishinghouse.com) and you’ll find sample readings to download if you navigate to the information on “The first book” (scroll down to the bottom).
So, I would be very happy if this book could help opening up the biblical treasures for you – in a fresh, unbiased and transparent way, written by a Catholic and ecumenical Christian!

The Bible contains much prophecy concerning end times, warning us to not be ignorant so we can be bold and fight the good fight of faith. As Christians, we’ll predictably face more hostility and possibly increased persecution in America as we draw closer to Jesus Christ’s return. It is now more pivotal than ever that we prepare ourselves, know the truth of Scripture, and understand the direction our country has taken.
God is being blotted out of America. Christians are being silenced by accusations of hate and intolerance. The government, media, Hollywood, the abortion industry, and academia are not going to defend Christian values – it’s up to you and me…We saw the vitriol of those who oppose Christian values when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy took a stand for traditional marriage and was attacked by leftists and homosexual activists. The choice is ours: we can face the reality of what is happening in America and take action, or we can look the other way. This republic under God continues to be a successful, glorious alternative to atheism, communism, socialism, and tyranny in the world, but today, our very freedoms are being threatened.
Enemy forces continue to destroy this nation by attacking America's Judeo-Christian roots from within. This book will investigate government, media, Hollywood, public schools, our culture of death, and the push toward socialism and Marxism. You’ll see how some churches and leaders are diluting the Word of God weakening the witness of believers. You may be outraged as this book exposes how sin is being openly promoted, yet encouraged because God is still in control. There’s a remnant of committed Christians resisting evil and standing in the way. The choice is ours: who or what will we give our allegiance to, God or man; to Jesus Christ or to culture and politics? As Christians, our loyalties must not be divided any longer or America may be lost. [close]

Each daily message highlights one Old Testament verse or brief passage and focuses on one or more key words from the text of the Hebrew—the language in which the Old Testament was originally written. While drawing from Old Testament Scriptures, Priceless Stones is written through the prism of New Testament Christianity and the finished work of redemption which was accomplished through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Each daily encouragement is reinforced by a concluding declaration and prayer. As an added bonus, appendices at the end of the book include a Scripture index and both Hebrew-English and English-Hebrew glossaries.
