Paranoia. Delusion. Anxiety. Loneliness. Living in the cut throat city of Manhattan can feel like a daily war. But when the new year rekindles the ageless clash between Heaven and Hell, four angels born as men are awakened. Neil Maillen, a young and successful journalist, prepares for the birth of his son and a stressful new life when he discovers he possesses super human abilities.
As a Sacred Angel, he teams up with Aurora, a sassy model, Amanda, a bipolar blonde and Ezekiel, a self-conscious artist to form the Descended Radiance: the fist of God.
Dragged into a terrifying reality of demons, monsters and mystifying strangers, it is suddenly their responsibility to defeat the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. As Heaven and Hell use Earth as a battleground, can the four save the World while battling their even more ferocious inner demons?
☆☆☆☆ GoodReads Rating: "First of all, I won this on the First-Reads Giveaway for free.
I am glad I finally had a chance to pick this one up and read it. It was not an overly intense dramatic apocalyptic story. Rather, quite comical at times, with an interesting quartet of characters who were the 4 angels sent to stop the four horsemen and the beginning of the end. At times when the four are together and even when alone, their characters are so unlikely the hero or heroin you'd expect to fight a religious battle between God and Evil but they each seem to mature and learn to master their powers with time. Not to mention thier strange mentor, the nun.
This is probably the closest thing to reality if in our current society, four twenty-something strangers where thrown together and told they had to save the world.
But just when you think they are actually going to succeed. WHAM!!! A shocking blow that makes you turn back to page one and reread again.
☆☆☆☆ Amazon Rating: "I decided to pick this book based on previous reviews. What I found very interesting was the imagination of the writer and the ability to tell a much told theme in a new an interesting light. The writer has a way of creating something exciting, dramatic and very thought provoking. This is the kind of book for people who love a great story and are interested in sci-fi." Sandra

In this short book, Dr. Julian Darius argues that Giffen's run offered an ambitious and unprecedented response to the growing maturity of super-hero comics — one that, far from trashing Legion history, actually respected it.
