This is my favorite ereader so far if you total the number of hours I've spent using it. I like that it has a screen-dimming feature, it's easy to load books onto, it doesn't take too long to start up, it's free, and best of all, it's always with me because my phone is always with me.

Stanza was one of the early e-book apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and I have to say that for me, it was the spark that rekindled my love of reading.

I have eye and hand problems due to chronic illness that made reading some books, let alone holding them to read them, quite challenging. But with Stanza on my iPod Touch, I could use a large, readable font (I prefer yellow on a black background) and just tap the screen to keep flipping pages.

The number of books I've been reading has at least

I can't say enough about Stanza's free reader for iTouch/iPhone ! The only thing that would make it better for me is if they paid me for all the word-spreading I do about it. I'm addicted!

I've been reading eBooks on my iTouch for over a year now and I LOVE it! I use Stanza as my reader (which is free) and can open all types of files (mobi {some}, epub, pdf, hmtl, rtf, doc, lit) with it. I also love that it is back lit, unlike the Kindle (I don't have one, but have been told by others that it h

This got me addicted to ebooks. The handiness of always having my books right in my pocket was wonderful, no more stuffing a few paperbacks in my bag. It's handy for unexpected occasions. The phone is so light that it's easy on my hands. And I love with being able to customize the font and size of print. The small sceeen size is not a problem. It's actually easier & faster than a paper book. Stanza is the best iPhone reading app, too. It takes nearly every format (not Kindle) & makes fin ...more

Stanza for the iPhone is free and an extremely easy to use ebook application. The only complaint I really have with it is one that can't be helped and that's due to the size of the iPhone screen itself. The iPhone isn't really meant for staring at for hours on end and it can become rather cumbersome to hold for any length of time. On the other hand though, as I mentioned, it's free and extremely simple to use. The interface is one of the nicest I've seen out of all the ebook apps available curre ...more

Here are some of the things I like about Stanza:

You can add your own books and it can use tons of formats. (Supported formats: .pdf, .txt, .html, .epub, .mobi, and .pdb)

You can have settings for reading in daylight and with a button press change it to reading for night.

You can adjust the size of your font, what font you use, the color of your text and background, the spacing between sentences and paragraphs, etc.

You can lock orientation for reading laying down. (Portrait or landscape)

You can bro

I really love Stanza, though I think that the interface for the 1.x versions was greatly superior to what they have now. It makes it so easy for me to read Project Gutenberg texts on the go, so I've been catching up on some long overdue classics reading.

I will say this -- reading on the iPhone or iPod Touch is never a particularly pleasant experience. The screen is very small, and though the screen is sensitive, the Stanza app does not seem deal with touch all that well while you are actually re

I didn't think I needed Stanza. I have a dedicated ereader. But I decided to try it, anyway. And I loved it. It's even more portable than my Sony Pocket Reader, and has a greater range of customisation options, including font style as well as size, and background colour, and an adjustable backlight. It's easy to download books -- at least, if you're going for the free ones, it is. It's pretty intuitive to use and set up to work best for you. I don't know how it handles when you have a lot of ebo ...more

I used Stanza on my Palms, so was happy to see an iPhone version. The pap is highly customizable (great for switching between day and night reading), and can download from bookshelves at lots of online sites.

However, Stanza has a more restrictive page touch scheme for turning pages. I prefer eReader's options better.

When I lost my Ipod touch, I missed this app the most. What I loved the most about Stanza is the amount of free books one can get without a PC. The built-in dictionary feature is very useful when reading classics. This is a must own for bookworms with an Ipod touch/Iphone.

Stanza was the first app I downloaded for my iPod Touch, and it's a great way to read free e-books. The only problem I really have with this app is inherent to all iPod apps: you can only download stuff if you're connected to the Internet, and for that you need wifi. I find this a bit peculiar, since you should really be able to upload stuff from your computer if you're connected with the cable (shouldn't you?), but... no nice. Also, it'd be really handy if Stanza would allow you to upload your ...more

I actually never thought I would read ebooks, I had looked at some ereaders and tried to read a few books on my laptop and it just wasn't the same. Enter stanza, the feeling is great and reading a sci-fi book in green lettering on black background frankly only adds to the feeling. I love that I can flip the pages, bookmark, annotate and highlight at the cost of ... NOTHING! As a public speaker I also love that I can take my own texts (and my choice reference books) and put them on stansa to have ...more

Stanza is the reason that I own and use my iPod touch regularly. Without it, I would barely ever take it out of my pocket. I have yet to find any other e-reader software/apps that come close to offering the functionality that Stanza offers. It's so customizable, and page navigation is exactly how it should be, no stupid, pointless "let's make it look like a real book" nonsense. I can take any file format that resembles text and have it up in Stanza in less than 5 minutes usually. Simple things m ...more

4.5 but only because you can't get updates for it anymore. And that's ONLY because Amazon bought it out and didn't want it competing (and completely creaming) it's kindle app.
This is/was the best, by far, ereader ever. I'm one of the very very few that still have a working Stanza app on my iPhone. Yay me! :) Even after the recent iOS 6 update too.
If only Amazon would take all Stanza's features and add it to their Kindle app, they'd have an unbeatable ereader.

Stanza is a great e-reader for the iPhone. Together with Kindle for iPhone is the go to app for reading.
I have other e-readers, but I deleted them because with those two I don't need any of them.

Best e-book reader for iOS gadgets, both installed in my iPhone and iPad. This works well with Calibre e-book manager.

Stanza is quite nice on the eye. One can adjust font size and contrast while reading, and the latter adapts automatically to current light.

I use Stanza often when on the bus or metro but I have a hard time reading for a long time because of the backlit-screen of the iPhone. That's why I'm considering buying a stand-alone ebook reader.

Simply put, it is awesome. I love the night-reading feature that lets you invert the colours (white - or other colour print - on black).

I would note that it's not all that intuitive to get working and it has some issues with PDFs.

Oh and it's a free app. If you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, you don't need a separate e-reader.

My rating benefits from the use of the program Calibre in conjunction with Stanza. This is an excellent way to organize your ebook collection. Stanza is almost solely responsible for getting me reading when I'm not going to be stuck on a plane. I also enjoy the news features from popular magazines.
